I did a quick ride down towards Canyon and back. Nothing exciting--couple of hills. Danette and the boys are heading to the team workout, while I take the kids to swim team. Hopefully, I'll get a swim in later today.

I took a day of rest. We have guests coming from Dallas and I met with friends from Kenya instead. Good trade off.

I am sore from last night's strength drill--more so than from Alacatraz. I did a variety of drills in the pool and then did 1150 meters or 46 lengths during a 25 minute continual swim.
As I was finishing up, my wife and son Leigh came to the pool to do their workouts.

I did a strength/run workout with team in training. It was great, except that I brought my bike shoes and left my running shoes at home and had to run "Kenyan" without shoes.
It was a fun workout--a constant reminder to relax and a reminder how I hate strength training! :-)

I did my recovery swim today. I felt pretty good and while my upper body was a little tight, the swim went very well. On the news last night they had a picture of Alcatraz and I looked at my wife and said "been there, done that!" with a big smile on my face.

Day of recovery after the event.
--------------------------
I did the traditional TRI recovery training session after a major event. I painted for 10 hours today. Did I mention that I hate painting. You know painint always takes me about 4 time as long as it should have. I have now done about 1/2 of the painting in 2 work days and I'm only half done. Have I mentioned that I hate painting.

I did it! I survived the Rock. My total time was 3:15:21. It was a great event for one and all!
One of the best parts of the race was that my wife wrote my appeal letter for me. I did not get a slot through the normal process and she wrote an appeal letter to the administrator that said that "She was the worst TRI widow in whole world." She touch both his heart and my heart. Now she is training for TRIs and life is better for both of us!
