Some more straight running. Ran in the Newtons yesterday and they REALLY fired up my foot so I am going to stay away from them for a while

No further word on the baby.  They are doing another MRI and waiting on pathology.

Headed to FL today to set up the apt and also I have to do a stupid mandated course.  Its ridiculous.  5 hours of required CME that HAS to be LIVE.  WTF?  Its specific to FL so you HAVE to go to FL to do it.  There are VERY few courses offered each year thus if you have a FL license and are not practicing in FL  its impossible.  It all about money really.  They want people to come spend their money at these ridiculous conferences where I will sit and learn nothing applicable to my practice.  The 3 days in FL are going to cost me roughly $2000 for 5 frigging CME credits.  Ridiculous.

I should have tried to swim yesterday but when I left work at 3ish it was 109 degrees outside.  The pool had kids in it and I had a lot to get done.  They are doing an open house while I am away so I had to get the house looking as perfect and empty as I could which meant cleaning, organizing and putting my bike up etc.

You know I am going to call this a win. I stopped because my biomechanically challenged foot was getting sore which can be the kiss of death for me. I did a 3:1. The rest of me did pretty decent. I am good with it

Only news on my coaches son is that it was a 12 hour case and they think they got all the tumor.  I can't imagine the hell he and his wife are going thru right now.

Uninspired trainer ride. Undercarriage sore, I am tired, and I got called to the ER

Prayers and good thoughts for my coaches 13 month old son who is in surgery for a brain tumor.  I can't imagine how devastated they must be.

Yeah not getting much sleep watching the Olympics.  Once every 2 years tho    Congrats to the womens gymnastics team on a HUGE win.    For those who do not follow the sport winning by FIVE POINTS is UNHEARD OF.  Seriously.  Thats like winning the marathon by 30 minutes.

Two weeks til I see Harlingen in my rearview mirror.  Thank GOD the olympics are on or I would be coming out of my skin.  Just marking time.  I have office hours today and call as well.

I have to say I am really disappointed in the media coverage of the Olympics.  You can't turn your computer on to check your email without seeing the results and friggin NBC gives away Missy Franklins win 2 minutes before it broadcasts the race?  WTF?  Why bother tape delay it if you are going to give away the results?  I WANT TO WATCH THE WOMENS TEAM FINAL.  DO NOT TELL ME WHO WINS.  I'm going to have to put myself in a box and hopefuly not endure and hour of beach volleyball again to watch gymnastics.  AND just because teh US team falters doesn't mean I don't want to watch the event!!!! Oh yeah and lets just show all the events where they fall, don't show any of the good routines.  geez o pete

Yep the US men totally choked.  It was a sad sad thing.  YAY for great britian tho!! How amazing for them!!  Honestly I am so happy for the athletes who medal in anything from any country.  Its just so happy

And speaking of Missy Franklin how can you not love her!!!  What a wonderful young lady and an amazing example to our youth in sport.  Her parents are a great example as well.  I loved the piece on her.   Keeps amatuer status to swim for her high school, despite pressure to move to another coach as a FAMILY they decide to stay and not fix what is not broken.  Her parents respect her wishes as an athlete.  They should beheld up as an example of how to do things right.

Well that went better than about 10 of my last 10 runs. Pleased. On a 3:1

I have one pt to see at 10 and I am on ER call.  I don't even care anymore because its just one more day I can tick off.  Looking forward to watching the mens team finals tonight. GO USA!!!!!

Gymnastics rant: Now that I have watched ALL of the US routines and the Russians and the Romanians.  1-ALL the US girls were underscored on everything but vault.  2-I think the judges were RIDICULOUSLY hard on Jordyn Wieber.  3-I think Aly Raisman had the meet of her life so good on her.  She is world class.  4-They let the girls in the last 2 groups get away with murder esp compared to the dedecutions they took for the US 5-The rule that only 2 girls from each country can go thru in the AA has been around for  LONG LONG time.  This is nothing that anyone didn't know about.  I think that Gabby, Jordyn and Ali ALL did fabulous but I think Jordyn was robbed even tho they all had a fabulous meet.  6-I hope they judge more fairly in the final because if they do the US will be unstoppable.

Doc Socks medical tip of the dy.  If you are in the hospital family/friends SHOULD NOT SLEEP IN BED WITH YOU.  Its stupid, unsanitary and makes you look trashy

Trainer ride. All my undercarriage could handle which I will take. Was happy to be able to sit on the bike which I could not tolerate a few days ago

LOOK >>>>>>>>I have more than one race on my schedule !!! YAY!

Harness training day 2.  Charlie moaned like I was pulling his toenails out and flopped over like I had killed him. Tucker wiggled out of his when put on right side up but can't get out of it if I put it on upside down.  Go figure.   They were happy to get treats after their torturous ordeal. Geez o pete.

My heart is bleeding for Jordyn Weiber. Reigning WORLD ALL AROUND champion and she gets edged out of making the all around final despite being in third place afer the qualifying round because the top 2 spots are her team mates and the rules say only 2 girls from each country can compete in the all around.  They used to use scores from the qualifying round AND the team final but they changed the rules as they do after every olympiad in gymnastics. Honestly I do NOT like the 5 girl team with 4 up on each event.  I like the 7 girl team and 6 up on each event as it was forEVER and no idea why they changed it.  It penalizes countries with deep teams I think.  Its hard enough to make the squad do you really have to limit it to only 5?  Its just ridiculous the reigning world champion will not get to compete in the all around.  Interestingly this happened some years ago with either the last soviet team or the "unified team"after the break up of the soviet union.  Their coaches said the girl who qualified was "injured" so their reigning world champion could compete in the all around.  Honestly I don't remember who won but I don't think anyone believed that girl was really injured.

Just dreadful

I was asked the stupidest question in my 19 years as a doctor.  They called to ask the weight bearing status of a pt who has been in a wheelchair since 1975..............WTF?

So I am trying to get ready to leave.  I want to have the cats in harnesses for the ride because if they jump on you in the car its loads easier to control them as you can pick them up and move them by the harness.   They do NOT like the harnesses.  AT ALL.  I had gotten some for them for the trip here but they don't like them and grandma and grandpa are pushovers and Tucker wiggled out of his so they didn't use them.....result = Tucker ran away the first night they stopped and when they got here he knocked the screen out of a window in my parents RV to get out.  So at anyrate we are having harness training.  Tucker looks like he is having a seizure trying to get it off and Charlie just flops over on his side like a dead cat.  I left them in them for 10 minutes and took them off and gave the bubbas treats.  Hopefully if I can keep it up they will get harness = treat.

I am so glad the oympics are on.  I am seriously antsy to get out of here and it will help pass the time
