Swam this morning. A little discomfort but nothing terrible. I'm just pooped today. Maybe it's because I'm working on kicking the soda habit. Morning coffee only lasts so long.
Going to get half hour massage later today. :)
BTW, I just found out today a friend of mine from high school is on BT. His name is Jonathan, he raced SoR last weekend and is a pretty cool dood. If you are so inclined to say hi to him his BT user name is jnieuwsma. And it appears he doesn't have any BT friends. Wah, wah, wah. :(
I need to decide the best approach for today. My mom is coming to watch Jack but not until after 10. Then there is the whole high-maintenance issue ... picky eater, clean freak, etc. I love my mom but she's getting whacked in her old age. Her needs take up as much time as her being here frees up. But she's a keeper. As kind and thoughtful as the day is long.
I'd like to get the swim in that I missed this morning and shoot for trainer ride tonight. Just not sure if I can squeeze in a trip for a massage, which really might benefit my body the most given the whole hammy issue. Which seems to only be problematic in very contrived situations today like when a bend from the waist to touch my toes while standing.

Well .... it looks like I'll be taking care of a slight hammy tweak. I pulled up out of my run today during the third 4x1200 after nailing the first two: 7:07, 7:13. I could feel something was off during my warmup. I even stopped to stretch for 10 minutes after warming up for 10 minutes. During the third I was painfully aware of my left hammy and decided to pull the plug. Well, sort of. I went to gym and tried to finish there but after two attempts at the 1200 and only getting through 400-500M I decided enough was enough and maybe I should leave the thing alone. Spent another 20 minutes stretching various other muscles and called coach.
I'm thinking to try the swim tomorrow. We'll see about the rest from there. I must say that the nap I had today was delightful and followed up by flowers from my husband. :)

Metric Melon 68 mile course
First of all, Plano is WAY the F#$% out there. Wow. Second, the flyer said 62 miles, not 68. This is the longest I have ever ridden. And DAMN!!! I smacked that ride down! :)
Got quite a nasty little headache on the way home so when I got here, I took advil, drank lots o'water, had a bowl of granola with yogurt and laid down for 30 minutes. Perfecto!
Looking forward to reading about everyone's SoR recaps! Hope everyone raced well and had a good time. :)

80' @ 9:03 pace
Ran EARLY this morning because I promised my friend Robin that I would help her set up her sidewalk sale and be there by 9:00. Ended up cutting this a few minutes short because I did NOT want to short change stretching time. Pleased with the effort and the result.
Spent the afternoon running errands including packet pick up for next weekend's race. :) The shirts are DARLING.

Took Jack out to my mother in law's so we could work on finishing cleanup in the basement. Decided to run while I was out there. There are a lot of rollers in the neighborhood so it was going to be a challenging run. I felt great heading out for the run but a few minutes in I felt a hot spot on each quad. I finished the warmup ahead of pace (8:37/mi). I became more and more aware of my hot spots as the run went on. I finally decided after the 3rd that they just flat out hurt and maybe it wouldn't be prudent to continue hammering them. Here are the times 4:19, 4:29, 4:27. Followed up with another easy mile and some change. I felt heavy and uncoordinated the whole time. Hopefully my swim this afternoon will hold something better.
Swim was great! While I wouldn't say I was lovin' every minute of it, I will say I am a) pleased with the effort and b) even more pleased with the results. :)

Took Jack to the farmers market and then the zoo this morning. I just LOVE when we get to the market early and there are plenty of heirloom tomatoes there. Can't wait to tuck into those tonight! Little basil, little marinated mozzererlla. Mmmmmm. Lucky me!
Hitting the trainer for 45 minutes when Jack has his nap, which should be shortly.
Short and easy trainer ride. Slightly disrrupted by Jack waking up early. Had to wait 30 minutes until Frank came home before I could finish. Felt good though. Not screamin' from the hammies.
