Alternate running 4' and walking 1'. The fist and last roughly 10' should be zone 1. Remainder zone 2.

Best part of yesterday:  Escaping to Target for an hour with my best friend.  Hillarity ensued.  None of which is probably even funny to anyone except us.  Even better!

Well, I'll be staying home as much as possible today.  It took me an hour and a half round trip to drop Little Dood off at school.  It's normally 20 minutes.  :o  65' run today.  Can't wait to get out there b/c I have some negative energy to burn after that experience!

HR monitor was off ... maybe it's in the air.  Sounds like everyone else's Garmin has been going catywompus lately too.  The run was part run/part site seeing ... there are a lot of homes underwater in Riverside.  I really feel badly for these folks.  An unfortunate development is my left soleus and foot began to ache quite a bit around mile 4 so I ended up cutting the run short.  Off to call Dr. Larry for a fix ....

10 ' Zone 1 + 30' Zone 2 + 10' Zone 1

Best part of yesterday:  We didn't float away.  The Chicago area has gotten more rain in a 24 hour period than has ever been recorded.  That's a lot of rain.  Part of our town is underwater ... thankfully we haven't been hit too badly.  All in all, I'm thankful we haven't been pasted.  (Yes, I'm knocking on wood.)

So, 50' spin later today, or now, or sometime.  Hard to say.  I'd like to see the Bears game.  Otherwise, I suspect it'll be a pretty quiet day around here.

Best part of yesterday:  Rediscovering Sam's Club.  Wow.  I love that place.  I even found some organic stuff there.  Who knew?

Sooooo ... yesterday was a wash.   Felt awful pretty much the whole day.  It's like my stomach just backed up.  Anything I'd put in, even water, just felt like it sat in there forever.  If I consumed 1000 calories yesterday, it's a miracle.  Now just a scant 10 hours of sleep later, things seem to be fine.  I feel kind of "hung over" from the lack of nutrition and dehydration so I'll work on getting that back on track.

Today is a rest day according to the schedule but since I didn't do anything yesterday, I'll likely e-mail Coach Brett and see if I can ride the trainer for awhile.

And there's college football on!!!!!  :)  GO GREEN!

Best part of yesterday:  Just generally a good day.  Nothing eventful, all of it pleasant.  I'm going to appreciate the day for it's non-eventfulness.

Well, I'm beginning to wonder if Little Dood's stuff earlier this week was, in fact, a virus because I'm enjoying many of the same symptoms.  Had to cancel my coached workout this morning so I think I'll try to catch up on sleep and start over tomorrow.

A quick update on my friend Steve--he's still in hospice care at home and his pain is well controlled.  Mark and his sister are at his side.  Still showing personality, his iPhone on the bed, at that moment on his belly, like a teddy bear.   This man is always on the phone.  But maybe in this case, the phone is on him. ;)

20' run

Best part of yesterday:  Hanging out with my dad for the day.  It was fun.  He's a very nice person.  We're kind of running out of stuff to talk about and there are a lot of days left.  :o

Race report is up!  Not too interesting.  Looking back, it was a fairly introspective event for me.  Who knew?  http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=132127

20' run today to get the legs back.  First 10' were tough then things loosened up.

50' Zone 1/2

Best part of yesterday:  My dad's arrival.  Little Dood is giddy to see his grandpa and can't wait to play with him already this morning.

It's been a long couple of days with Little Dood's tummy troubles.  If all goes well this morning, I may take him in for a late start at school.

50' bike on the schedule today.  Plus shopping and other assorted oddities.

Best part of yesterday:  A puke free day.  Well, some days it isn't glorious or inspirational.  It just is.  The reason for all this is that Little Dood had a bunch of change last week (all day school starting, trip on the weekend) and somewhere between change and traveller's dilemma, the poor kid hadn't had a backside output for almost a week.  Today we are dealing with the remainder of the problem.  He's fine.  I'm grossed out but hey, I chose to be a parent.

My dad is flying up from Mexico today to visit for 9 days.  Yes, that's NINE days.  (Planes from Guadalajara only come to directly to Chicago on Tuesday and fly back on Thursday.  So he's either here for 2 or 9 days.)  Funny thing is we're about as opposite as two people get.  I mean any two people on the planet, not just family.  We're not particularly close but he's a pretty good grandpa to Little Dood (much better grandpa than he was a father) and he's making an effort so I'm trying to keep it all in perspective.

Otherwise, it is a simply gorgeous morning out there!  I'm going to try and get out for a walk or something.  Technically it's a rest day but I sort of had that yesterday.

Congratulations again to Schmize and Miss Kelly on their Ironman finishes!
