Time Trial at the Speedway plus some warmup laps with Karen. Really tried to leave it all out on the track tonight. Still have to wait on my official times, but I think I set a new PR at about 25:39 for the 10 miles. Feel much better about this one. I've been really disillusioned this season. My times were getting slower each time we went out. I think I was just doing too much. Kicked ass tonight despite doing my 2nd longest run ever yesterday afternoon and less than 3 hrs sleep including an afternoon nap today.

Legs still sore from yesterday's long run. Hope I didn't screw myself up for tonite's Time Trial. Going to try to get in a short swim this am to see if my legs will loosen up some more. Worked OT last night and feeling it big time. Really wanted a long night's sleep after that 11 mile run. Managed to get less than 2 hrs sleep on a couch at a fire station between calls.  I did get to "run" an interesting race this am....Who's faster, me or Death?  Had a lady go bad in a hurry and it was a race to get her onto CPAP (high pressure oxygen that forces it's way into your lungs rather than you just inhaling it) faster than her body could give out.  I won this time :)

Keep HR under 150
Good ez run, for 1st 90 mins had ez time keeping hr down. Started to struggle a little after that but did pretty well

From an email I received just a few minutes ago:
Congratulations on qualifying for the Set Up Championship Invitational Triathlon on Saturday, October 20th at FallsLake (BeaverdamPark) in Raleigh.

The 2007 Set Up Championship Invitational will bring together all the top performers in the NCTS, the South Carolina Triathlon Series, The Virginia Triathlon Series, and the Endurance Triathlon Series.

Not too bad for my first full season, huh?

Had to coach soccer practice for my 5/6 team tonight. They are coming along really well. I can see huge improvements in each of those kids.

Still feeling a little sore and run down. Got to get back on track though so I don't let my Team Bad Omen down.  By noon today, I should hear if I get an invitation to the Setup Events Championship race on 10/20.  I was 10th out of 15 that will be invited going into the weekend.  It just depends who raced and how well they did if I'll stay in the top 15.

Got up at 530am to get everybody moving to go to the Ramblin Rose Women's Tri.  Karen was doing the race as part of a relay (Thanks Alice for picking up the slack and doing the swim and the run!!).  The kids did pretty well despite the fact that we were there from 645 until about 11.  Karen & Alice did great, taking home the 1st place relay.  Dia and Heather did great as well.  Heather took 2nd Athena.  We also saw a lot of the women from our transition clinic finish.  I'm really feeling the race jones now.

Hi, I'm Eric and it's been 6 weeks since my last race......

Two soccer games this morning--Hannah and Connor each scored 2 goals in their games so a pretty good day!  We tied one game and lost the other but I'll still take it. Legs are really sore from last week for some reason.

Bike Team Training again. Mtn bike with 30lb pack. Mostly low speed rides thru downtown.

Long night last night...6 calls.  Nothing overly exciting but I did come up with 2 new entries for my strange and interesting observations from work:

From the Wow...That's Pathetic Category---we're hanging out in the local bar district protecting the citizens :) and this car pulls up with an older guy driving.  In the front seat is a late teen/early 20's kid.  We're assuming it's Dad, drops off the young man in front of the bar.  Reminded me of a 12 y/o getting dropped off at the movies.  I think that having to call Dad for a ride home might just cut down this guy's chances of a hook-up....maybe it's just me.

From the WTF Category--go out on a call and find this guy laying in bed.  His pillow and sheets are soaked...we're thinking from sweat...but they have this weird brownish color.  The firefighters start looking around while we're dealing with this guy and find a Sam's size bbq sauce bottle....only it's not bbq sauce in it.  There is some weird concoction of leaves, berries, twigs and who knows what else in there.  Apparently, his wife had marinated him in it thinking it might solve his medical issues....Alas...it did not work. Damn...I'd have enjoyed getting to carry some of that on the ambulance.

Spin class plus an hr of riding. Interval class today and Allison was really in the mood for a pounding. Spent the whole class at mod cadence with high resistance doing anywhere from 20 sec to 60 sec intervals with half that time of rest.

Run
  • 56m
  • 5.42 miles
  • 10m 19s /Mi

Speed workout
4x4:00 hard (7.5; 7.5; 7.5; 8.0)/2:00 ez

Wow---I really needed that sleep last night.  I think I laid down on the bed about 915, right after we put the kids to bed.  Next thing I knew, it was about 615 this morning.

Gotta go deal with some people who are causing me stress.....they're not worth the aggravation they are causing.  Then, its off to the gym, hopefully a long ride and run brick.
