I'm Kind of a Big Deal....People Know Me

October 6

Two soccer games this morning--Hannah and Connor each scored 2 goals in their games so a pretty good day!  We tied one game and lost the other but I'll still take it. Legs are really sore from last week for some reason.

Bike Team Training again. Mtn bike with 30lb pack. Mostly low speed rides thru downtown.

Long night last night...6 calls.  Nothing overly exciting but I did come up with 2 new entries for my strange and interesting observations from work:

From the Wow...That's Pathetic Category---we're hanging out in the local bar district protecting the citizens :) and this car pulls up with an older guy driving.  In the front seat is a late teen/early 20's kid.  We're assuming it's Dad, drops off the young man in front of the bar.  Reminded me of a 12 y/o getting dropped off at the movies.  I think that having to call Dad for a ride home might just cut down this guy's chances of a hook-up....maybe it's just me.

From the WTF Category--go out on a call and find this guy laying in bed.  His pillow and sheets are soaked...we're thinking from sweat...but they have this weird brownish color.  The firefighters start looking around while we're dealing with this guy and find a Sam's size bbq sauce bottle....only it's not bbq sauce in it.  There is some weird concoction of leaves, berries, twigs and who knows what else in there.  Apparently, his wife had marinated him in it thinking it might solve his medical issues....Alas...it did not work. Damn...I'd have enjoyed getting to carry some of that on the ambulance.

Spin class plus an hr of riding. Interval class today and Allison was really in the mood for a pounding. Spent the whole class at mod cadence with high resistance doing anywhere from 20 sec to 60 sec intervals with half that time of rest.

Wow---I really needed that sleep last night.  I think I laid down on the bed about 915, right after we put the kids to bed.  Next thing I knew, it was about 615 this morning.

Gotta go deal with some people who are causing me stress.....they're not worth the aggravation they are causing.  Then, its off to the gym, hopefully a long ride and run brick.

28 pound pack on Medic mtn bike. Great interval ride. 4 sprints of approx 1-1.5 miles to get to 911 calls to get the old HR up, then some easy cruising in between. By the way, you don't realize how hilly downtown Charlotte is until you ride or run it.

Ot last night. Almost no sleep.  Hate the hospitals....glad they have malpractice insurance...let's leave it at that.

Bike team training today...looks like everyone else pussed out except Rich.  Hopefully, we'll get a chance to run some calls and turn some decent miles. We didn't do crap on Saturday when we worked an event.

Legs a little sore, but I iced some last night.  Feel pretty good overall. Off schedule this week since we are supposed to have 2 days of bike team training. Not ready to do speed work running today so may just do tomorrow's swim.

Still a little sore from my wipeout pre-bike ride on Saturday night. Felt good while I was riding yesterday.  Stupid deer must be getting more active because Carley barked at something off and on all night.  Gonna have to start putting her up at night again.

Observations from the Perfume Flavored Cesspool that is the Y during Water Hippos:

My grasp of such subjects is less than expert, but why is it that a 320 pound woman feels like she needs two noodles and three foam belts to float in less than 3 feet of water.  Trust me...I had the unfortunate luck of seeing her underwater as I was breaststroking by.  The non-supported load was floating as well if not better than the part supported by the noodles.

The Y finally added individual shower stalls several months ago, so why is it that some men, particularly those calorically challenged individuals, feel the need to leave the curtains open while they shower?  I promise that my workout really could be complete without having to see ugly naked furry guy showering.

75 mins, 2 laps of Ramblin Rose with Karen, Dia, Elizabeth, and her husband Todd. Enjoyed the ride with them and hopefully all the ladies feel better about the upcoming race.

24 mile trainer ride at home watching the tv...was going to watch the Panthers but that would have been valuable minutes of my life that I would never have gotten back given the way they were playing
