Easy ride out of Reedy Creek with the BT crowd-Dia, Gygy, and Jane

Have almost finished the tree that just won't die. I got another 10 or 12 cuts made today before I ran out of oil for the chainsaw. I'm down to the last 6 feet of trunk and then I have to figure out what to do with the stump since it pulled out of the ground when the tree came down.

Who the hell showed up and ran this for me? I took approximately 3:40 off my previous PR for a 5k today on basically no sleep and no nutrition. Hmm-maybe I've discovered my own secret weapon--SLEEP DEPRIVATION Holy crap, how did I knock that much off in one race? Oh well, not going to question it right now.

Crappy swim. Felt drained from working OT and my long run yesterday. Just struggled through

Well, baby watch continues. Karen is struggling along, trying to be patient and losing :) She's offically due April 8th. We went to the doctor today and they went ahead and scheduled her to be induced on Wed the 4th if she hasn't gone on her own by then. I have to admit that I pushed for Wed or later since I've got the first time trial of the season on Tues nite. How sad is that???

FIRST EVER RUN OVER 10 miles!!! Ran 11 miles in 2:00:32. Holy crap--I never thought I'd get to 5 miles when I started doing this last April. I'm still not a great run (Read Fast) but I'll take it.

**By the way, I should have mentioned that I managed today's run on about 3 hrs of sleep. I worked OT last nite and got a little sleep there and some more at home before going back into the office. I'm sitting here looking at the wallpaper of race numbers next to my desk. My first one is from the Big E Road Race March 25th of last year. I only ran the 3k portion of the run because I was intimidated by the idea of a full 5k. Three weeks later, I ran my first ever 5k, the Bunny Hop 5k (Manly name--lots of pink on the t-shirt too) in a blistering 36:06. I can remember thinking that I would be happy to get comfortable with the 5k distance and that even a 10k seemed too much to take on. Less than a year later, I'm two weeks away from my first half-marathon. That's probably a slower progression than most people but I've never been a strong runner. This is a HUGE success for me. Yesterday I went to put on a spare uniform belt that has been hanging in my work locker for a while. I tried to buckle it and found that even the smallest opening wasn't even close to being tight on me. One year ago, I weighed around 245lbs, was at 23% body fat, and wore 38/40 waist pants. Now, I'm at 222, 16% body fat, and 34's are starting to have a little room. It's amazing how much has changed in one year. I can't wait to find out what the next year has in store for me!

Mtn bike with 25 lb pack on it.

Training ride for Medic bike team. Lots of stop and go traffic uptown but some decent sprints going on some 911 calls. The gearing is so different than my road bike. I'd say every mile on here would be worth 2 or more on the road bike in terms of effort.
