full moon lovely. Sprints on the bike were fun. they were just fun. I did not do as much as the plan called for because I've not been doing them before. In the pool I just ran out of time. I had to get in to meet with my lawyer. I like lawyers, and I enjoy the law, I just don't like adveseral situations - especially when I stand to loose bunches. The more pertinant fear is that I will be hurt in some manner - probably irrational. Criptic, I know, but I just need to think out loud, but not necessarily tell the whole story.
I may go to visit my son in Ruidoso today - Looking forward to that. Unfortunately it screws the week as far as work goes, I've already wasted most of two days on legal and administrative stuff. ARG
Speaking of ARG! Did you know Friday is international pirate day? Interesting the things you learn at the bike club meeting.

Kenyan Running - lean forward, roll off your big toes, keep hand above your waist, look about 6 feet in front of you with your eyes, drive your elbows back and never cross your midline with your hands.
-- kept cadence high. ran fast down hill twice each hill. to "hill" around three times the last down the steep side. Fast as you can going down is FUN! Fartlek. speedplay.

Beautiful full moon this morning. Almost like day light before sunrise. And it was very cool - 58 degrees with a little north wind. I really wanted to go ride, but today is short run day.
I think the closest I get to Kenyan running is perhaps there is a Kenyan out there somewhere running under the same full moon. :) But the run felt really good. - little bit of tweeking in the right ankle.
Almost forgot this week's position:
It looks like a recovery week, but it's got a 2.5 hour run on Wednesday - and that's bike club ride night. Should be an interesting day.

Easy easy spin around neighboorhoods. I need to fix the noise on my bike. (i'm not sure where that whining noise is coming from :) )
T1 4.41 are a bananna. The first 10 min didn'f feel very good, but after that was ok. not much energy in the legs. Last 10 minutes able to pick up the cadence a bit. Strides x2 at 10 min - felt bad, hamstrings tight.

No wind going out. Wind in my face 10 -12mph coming back. mostly pretty easy pace. 7 min break at 2:26 to pee and fill water bottle12 min break at 5:09 to pee and fill water bottle and get off bike - ate coffee cake. - after break energy came back.
9:06 transition to change clothes and grab run belt. Ran to Parcourse and around twice then to pool. very easy the first 10 minutes. then upped the tempo
2.45 T2 Again just very easy. 2x1000. pee break between 1000's 200 cd. Legs were trying to cramp up after a 25 kick. And I was done, so I quit early.
Kind of slow. I walked three times on the way home. Started with a gel right after swim.
Not enough sleep last night, and I think it showed on the bike. Also I haven't been on the bike in a week - also showed. Feel pretty good afterward.
Nutrition: mixed the perpetuem 2 scoops per hour. it was ok for the first five hours then I just didn't want any more. That mix is a little too thick for me in the small water bottle. There seemed to be enough energy although I think i'd rather mix it just a little weaker and add some gels. I took one gel on the ride. one gel after 30 min on the run and 1/2 strength gator aide.
It was hot on the run, but body did fine, even to the point of getting almost up to tempo run on second parcourse lap.
Weight at start 153, after bike 150, after run and swim, 148.
For most people riding 90 miles would be enough was it for me? Noooooo, B 90 mi + run 4.66, enough? Nooooo, B 90 + R 4.6 + Swim 2200, enough?? - um yeh, in fact maybe just a bit too much.
Loved spending all day playing, although I kinda pooped out a couple of times and certainly was not fast. Could I continue that pace for 17 hours. We'll see in November.

rest day.
Precious are the glimpses we get into the nature of things. But we must be ready for them, or the most exquisite lessons will be lost on us. Anxiety, regret, or egotism can cloud our perceptions. We only learn when we can set aside our preoccupations.
To be hung-up is to be caught, like a coat on a hook, unfree. When we're hung-up, our attention is somewhere else; we can't learn anything. And hang-ups are a choice we make. If we choose the freedom to experience nature's flux, we can slip off the hook.
Mainly we choose to stay hung-up our of fear--fear of the unknown and perhaps fear of freedom. If we've spent most of our lives on one hook or another, we may not have much confidence that we can get along by ourselves. But we can.
....Today I'll choose Freedom and groundedness. I'll choose to learn ease. - Casey and Vanceburg
Assertive behavior enables a person to act in his or her own best interests, to stand up for herself or himself without undue anxiety, to express henest feelings comfortably, or to exercise personal rights without denying the rights of others. - Alberti and Emmons
tough night last night with anxiety and worry. Better after journal and today's readings.
I went out and ran 8 miles yesterday. For most people that would be enough, but I didn't get my hour swim in. That's the second swim I've missed this week. I'm beating myself up - I've got to get into the pool. 8 hour work out tomorrow! 6 hr bike, 1 hr run, 1 hr swim. That folks is 8 hours, and is true Iron Man training.
I'm concerned about actually making it to Florida. Will the spouse interfere? Time will tell. It looks like however that buying a tri bike would not be prudent - so I'll be riding on a 15 year old street bike. It was a top bike in its time, and I've done all my training on it. So I'll be an extra hour on the bike. I haven't decided for sure, but that's what I think this morning. She said, as long as it's your money.... I've heard that kind of thing before.
Holy carp. I'm behind in hours this week. Missed two one hour swim's and two bike work out's due to rain. This is supposed to be a build week. I guess I'm going into tomorrow's key work out really really well rested. I guess.

RPE 1 run 4 walk 1 for first 70 min, tempo run RPE 4 for last 20 min, pace 10min/mile
Nice run in the humid, but somewhat cool morning. Everything is wet, and the drainage ditch was knee deep at the crossing so I had to run to the bridge. My runs are feeling better and better and I've learned to ignore the pains and aches of the first 5 to 7 minutes. Nothing hurt or anything till almost an hour. left achilies a little sore and left knee had an occasional tweek, but overall it was all good. Finished strong.
World record transition time PR = 35 minutes. come in from run at 8:45, eat, shower and dress, in office at work 9:20. Boo Yah!
Brought my recovery drink to the office.
Listening to KVOD web broadcast - Colorado Public Radio out of Denver Co - pretty good classical music this morning. http://www.cpr.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=73&Itemid=131
Missed another swim this morning - I've got to cut that crap out. The wetsuit is no substitute for actual yardage. And even though I'm a pretty good swimmer (not terribly fast though), I've got to get in the water and prepare. - Once a week probably will not be enough.

I love this photo of my back from the start of the MS 150. The jersey pattern makes me look like I have big ol sholders and little tiny waist. Love optical illusions:

This run felt much faster than it calculates. Maybe because it was cool. 5 min walk/potty break at 1.30.

Break through run today! Felt awesome, running under the full moon, and it was 56 degrees outside. At 40 minutes it felt like I had been running 10 min. I was at the upper end of RPE 2 and running MUCH faster than I usually do at that effort level. Wonderful, wonderful run. At 2 hours I started to feel a little fatigued, but still finished fairly strong. Gel at 1 hr, 1.5 hr, 2 hrs. Swallow of 1/2 gatoraide every 5 min. Forced myself to walk one minute out of every 5. Strategy worked very well. did some short strides at about 30 minutes just to stretch out a little and because I felt like it.
I really enjoyed being out there running today. Was in communication with the Universe at times. And the sky was just fabulously beautiful. ( If I could write like Yanti I'd tell you about it)
I'm off to Ruidoso today to visit my son, and do a little work there. Then on Friday I head down to Ft Davis to help with the bike tour. I'm driving sag on Saturday. I hope to get a good ride in, but we'll see. It looks like about a 5-6 hour drive from Ruidoso to Ft Davis, and I'm afraid I'll miss the guys who are riding on Friday. I'll call them though and we'll see. Lots of climbing down there. I am scheduled to ride the hill climb on Sunday though.
