z1 easy ride. legs and glutes are real sore. good day to take a long slow ride.
thought I'd ride farther, but knee was hurting going out so decided to only do 34 miles.
rode early and it was wonderful. Full moon, then the sunrise was beautiful with interesting clouds in the sky.
cleaned the bike. I wish I had checked my chain before I spent a bunch of time cleaning it. Need a new chain. cleaned garage just a wee bit, pulled weeds, did laundry. Generally a good morning taking care of some chores. Lunch then a lovely two hour nap. Helped my daughter install a ceiling fan this evening.
Made some juice: carrots, apple, 1/2 orange, 1/4 pineapple, strawberries. very tasty.
screwed up and didn't make it to the office today. I'll have to be extra vigilant tomorrow. "long" run tomorrow. wonder how far I should go. My farthest in recent history is between three and four miles. And I'm sore and have got another ski exam on Friday. Perhaps something like 4.5 easy with some walking. in shoes.

short warm up run before plyometrics
run over to pool from office and back. Pretty slow and stiff going over. Felt pretty good coming back. Heel hurting some.
A time trial of sorts. Check out how long it takes to run over to pool, swim, run back. Shower here. The idea being that this might be a good workout for me, and leave me more awake and alert in the afternoons.
They were closing at 1:00 today so I had to hustle. I could have swum longer except I ran out of time. Felt pretty good.
P90x plyometrics to the first rest break. Legs pretty tired to start with. From the bike on Wed? I need to figure out how to recover better.

Starting to think about triathlon season. I've got a huge way to go, having basically not done any swim/bike/run in months. Ah well, the longest journey begins with the first step. Probably the key to success for me will be sleep.
Still have one ski certification exam to go. one of my trainers says "the secret handshake is within my reach." What an encouraging thing to say.
Today: work. Good progress on project 1, now to get on the the thorny issues of project 2. Why are my previous results not easily repeated. What have I done different? What is different? Then Taxes. Time to get the stuff together for my accountant. A part of the business I enjoy less than almost any other part - taxes.

Just a little run. Felt really good. In Vff's
bike shop to 191 to Faudry and back. Rode a bit too hard going out with the group. Stayed with them till the turn around when I decided to drop. Haven't been riding much, and although I could keep up, I thought high intensity and long (for me at this point) was not a good idea. I caught them in a couple of miles - they were riding slow and waiting for me. how nice. So I rode with them a bit longer. Knee started hurting and I knew it was more intensity than I needed, so I explained that i needed to not stay with them. and this time they let me drop. Took it easy for a while, then did five 2-telephone pole sprints out of the saddle. Rode in easy.

Just a little bit of the weights. - not much time
Left the office last night at 10:00.
And for some reason Wednesday after a ski weekend is the toughest for me to drag myself out of bed. Good thing I had a meeting this morning.
It was cool out this morning and a short run seemed like a good idea. Once I got out and got going it felt really good. I really wanted to run farther but didn't have the time. Short weight session to maintain muscle mass.
Morning meeting went well. I've got lots of work to do. Daughter is in this afternoon. Son is having a study group in my conference room this afternoon. The sun is shining and the air is cool. Group ride this afternoon. LIFE IS GOOD!

Stayed up visiting with my dad last night. Had a nice breakfast and visited with him till noon. He's 87 years old, and doing pretty well.
Actually got him to talk about my mom a little. She died when I was eight years old and he was devastated. Pretty much the topic of her was off limits. Now finally he brings her up, and we talk a little. Realizing that, this time I pressed him for a bit more detail. It was very good. Learned much more than I knew. I suppose I ought to write what I've learned so my kids can have that part of their history. I'm looking forward to continuing that conversation. It is a delicate subject though. Still can bring tears to his eyes and to mine.
Left at noon to drive home. Didn't stop to run, because by the time I got to that part of the trip a fairly serious dust storm was blowing. Just not fun to be out of the car in it.
Got home at 8:00 before it was dark. What a change!
Saw a hawk or small eagle on the way home.

mtn bike to office and home. I think I need to start running this instead of biking it. Running is my weakness and now that the office is so close it would make a good addition to my routine.
Thought I'd skate it to prepare for skiing but never got around to it. Skating might make good cross training though. But I really need more running.
Easy run. 2/1 run walk. Felt good. It was a bit far for me, but ok I think. Foot not hurting till later. Five miles seems like it's so short, and yet that's my level of fitness. oh well, so I've got some training to do. And not get hurt.

Took it a little easy this morning. I think I could find plenty to do even if I didn't work at all. Ran, pulled some weeds, laundry, took care of the cats. Stretch and eat. Now at the office. I've got to get some stuff done before I leave town to go ski again.
