Walk / shuffle / with a little jog. Heel hurts today. Thought a little outing might do it good. I was glad I got out. Running felt ok once I got going. Passed a house at ~ 6:15 where three young ladies were out on the driveway doing calisthenics. Had a strong urge to join them. I'm tired of my foot hurting.

LSD today. 3/1 run/walk and go long. Felt lethargic and not at all like running today. Also it's hot and humid. Stuck it out and mostly just ran slow. Still hr was usually 133 while running. Finally at the end I was able to shuffle slow enough to get it down to 122.
Stopped for water at the college and twice at the parcourse.
did the route plus one full loop of the college 1.1 mi, and most of parcourse ~ 1.1 mile. bit of an estimate. Feet were starting to hurt, and I still had ~ 2 miles to run home. Still at that point I had wet my shirt and hat and was running into the wind which helped.
Not a happy place run today. It was just push through the discomfort and lack of desire and heat. Seems like I was ready for the walk about 15 to 30 seconds before time every time.

All those lovely college students last night at the Glee proformance. Energy and tallent. Boobs on display. And not for the old man, father of one of the students. I feel old. And lonely.
I absolutely loved college. I enjoyed all the people around who were in the same condition as I, same age, motivations, desires, intellegence and interests.

Easy ride, with too many stops.
Rode over to odessa to pick up my buddy. I was almost 15 min late and he still wasn't ready. We didn't ride off till 6:50 - was supposed to be 6:30.
Still he's fun to visit with and we get along great. Rode out to the Meteor Crator into 20+ mph 1/4ing head wind, which was a head wind on the last bit into the park. riding at 10 to 12 mph, it gets tiring. Riding out of the park was a breeze. Turned away from town for a 15 min additional bit more into the wind. ride back was awesome 22 to 26 mph. stopped to fill waterbottles. girls rode by. I hollered at them and they came back. cool. rode all the way back home with them. fun and fast
So I got up at 4:30 to ride off from the house at 5:30. Rode, ate, took a nap, and was ready for the day to really begin at 3:00 pm. In the afternoon. so the long ride, counting getting ready and finishing up took 11 hours.
My son is in the choir at Midland College. Tonight they had a Glee production. It was awesome, invigorating, high energy, and just made me feel good. His girl friend was there and I sat with her. Awesome dress showing serious cleavage. I was good.
mostly.

Run to pool and back VFF's. Did not feel very good. not at all like last week. But the time was ok.
I suppose starting the stop watch really does not do much good unless you also stop it when you get to your destination.

Shoulder was ok in the water - hurt some but not too bad. Definitely not happy this afternoon.
Winning isn't everything, but wanting to win is. - Vince Lombardi
Of course those of us with limited physical prowess can figure out other ways to "win." For me simply completing my first Ironman race was a win. Completing my first sprint tri was a win. I did actually win my age group in that one last year. But the point is that the person who comes in last according to the clock is not necessarily a looser. I'm not convinced that it's any less hard for them than for the first person to cross the finish line.
This week the bike focus didn't work out so well, but I did get some good work outs, and yoga twice.
Long bike tomorrow. Meeting a friend at 6:30 at 15 miles out for me. Leave the house at 5:30. Think we'll ride to the meteor crater. I love early morning rides. Put the new headlight on my bike last night.

Up at 5:30 on the bike at 6:00. Easy ride. The speed, or rather how quickly I finished this ride surprised me. I even stopped to take a picture of the sun rise which was beautiful.
Nice easy ride, sit parts not too irritated.
9:00 am class. Thought I'd see how disruptive it was to the work day.
This one was Vinyasa Yoga. The instructor said it's more like a dance, movements to your breathing. There was not much in the way of static stretching - it was pretty much movement. At the end though there was a very long rest. I did fall asleep. The instructor came around and put a sand bag on our belly, and pushed my shoulders down to the floor and pulled on my head. it was pleasant. Nice work out, I'll know tomorrow if it hurt anything.
My plan is to make it to Yoga 3 times a week if I can. Unfortunately both of the yoga sessions on Wednesday conflict with the group bike ride.
It will all be all right in the end. If all is not right, then it's not the end. - advertisement for a movie. did not pay much more attention than that. Looks like a good movie, and the quote caught my attention.
Discovered when I got to work that I had an all day conference today. Attended the middle part. Wish I had time to do it all, but I've got too much to do.
I've got to solve my help problem. Our ethics talk was very interesting today. Ethics is not necessarily about right and wrong, but about the choice between two right courses of action. The one I'm facing involves these two conflicts: Loyalty vs Truth, and Long term vs Short term.
Shoulder is more sore today. Swimming definitely aggravated it. But it's still better than on Sunday before the first Yoga. Heel is same as shoulder. Yoga today did not seem to help as much as the Monday Yoga. Probably it was the long downward facing dog that helped the most with my heel.

Today's activities have fallen apart. up too late to bike swim. Instead of biking to pool then office chose to shower at home and shave my legs prior to massage. Massage canceled - she's got to study. --- Think I'll run over to pool and grab a quick swim at lunch. Ready, Go!
man that felt good! like fun running in the sun, swimming in the cool water good! Endorphins, what a wonderful thing. And really good news this time it didn't hurt my shoulder much. Means I probably ought to register for that Oly that's about a week away. All Right! ok enough of the exclamation points already.

Got up at 5:30 to bike. Raining! Raining! all right! we need it so much. Alternate plan: run.
Pretty much stopped raining by the time I ran.
Run was uninspired, kind of hurt and I had to remind myself not to judge anything until at least 8 minutes. Still pretty slow with walking, but finally ended up jogging. couple of strides at .8 miles. Started feeling ok. Last .6 mile was pretty much tempo and felt ok.
uber surprised by the time. much better pace than it felt like. - maybe the run training is paying off.
supposed to be Hatha yoga. started with foam roller, some held poses, but lots of movement. Was ok, and there was some pretty good stretching. I'm so inflexible - really need to be doing the yoga. Didn't seem to hurt my back. Time will tell. I was more cautious with forward bends, and didn't push them at all. Finished with my silver bullet stretches after the class to put my back where it belongs.
Our thoughts are the fingers of our soul and by exercising these little fingers we can take hold of the good that God has given us. - Fannie James
Even if you're not a God person - we can take hold of the good that is out there for us. There's so much good.
Feel good about staying positive and revising training plan this morning. It was 65 degrees when I got up and had dropped to 57 by the time I got out of yoga. Cloudy, and sprinkling on and off. I absolutely love it. So nice to be cool after the 100 degree days we've had.
Thought I'd swim at lunch, but my shoulder is so sore I can hardly raise my arm and reach for something. Should really call the doctor. When will I have time?
Run was mediocre, Yoga was pretty good, but I feel very good in it's wake.
