e-ceise & a couple of planks. Amazing all the exercises I think to do when I'm supposed to be tapering. I thought of all kinds of things I wanted to do today. Mostly I refrained. Good Jasha.

Busy day at work. Both kids showed up and that takes lots of extra work on my part.  Got lots done though.

Race Sunday! getting more and more excited.  A bunch of our guys are doing the sprint or Oly tomorrow.  I'm working on trying to get up there in time for the finish.

Got to pack and load the car tonight.  And eat.  eating is good.  8:03 and I'm just finished getting started.

Basic Economics:

THE COYOTE

The Governor of California is jogging with his dog along a nature trail.

A coyote jumps out and attacks the Governor's dog, then bites the
 Governor.

1. The Governor starts to intervene, but reflects upon the movie
"Bambi" and then realizes he should stop because the coyote is only doing what is natural.

2. He calls animal control. Animal Control captures the coyote
and bills the State $200 testing it for diseases and $500 for relocating it.

3. He calls a veterinarian. The vet collects the dead dog and
bills the State $200 testing it for diseases.

4. The Governor goes to a hospital and spends $3,500 getting checked for diseases from the coyote and getting his bite wound bandaged.

5. The running trail gets shut down for 6 months while the Fish & Game Commission conducts a $100,000 survey to make sure the area is now free of dangerous animals.

6. The Governor spends $50,000 in state funds implementing a
"coyote awareness program" for residents of the area.

7. The State Legislature spends $2 million to study how to better
treat rabies and how to permanently eradicate the disease throughout the world.

8. The Governor's security agent is fired for not stopping the attack. The State spends $150,000 to hire and train a new agent with additional special training re: the nature of coyotes.

9. PETA protests the coyote's relocation and files a $5 million suit
 against the State.

***********************************************

The Governor of Texas is jogging with his dog along a nature
trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks his dog.

1. The Governor shoots the coyote with his State-issued pistol and
keeps jogging. The Governor has spent $0.50 on a .45 ACP hollow point cartridge.

2. The Buzzards eat the dead coyote.

And that, my friends, is why California is broke and Texas is not.

Followed the fast four out of town. Chased them down the highway, but had made a tactical error, was still in small ring. On the quick shift, I let a two foot gap develop. Racer Kelly behind me came around and I let him in, but at the same them they were accelerating, and I was not able to keep up. 28 mph max for me.

Rode hard to the first turn around so the next group could not catch me. rode about 20 mph into strong cross wind, felt pretty good - well it actually hurt but I was pleased with speed. Stopped at underpass to visit with the other Kelly, and ended up waiting for the other folks who wanted to go short. We rode back medium easy till I thought it was time for the three telephone pole sprints. Did those and eased the rest of the way in.

If you don't like the road you're walking, start paving another one. - Dolly Parton

Home spun wisdom. so true.  I just need to decide which path to pave.  Had a good discussion with a fellow geoscientist (who's way ahead of me on the money front), and he had some good ideas and suggestions.  Also the weekend contact could be a good mentor type of person to help me get on with actually earning some interest in some deals.  I need to follow up.  At least I'm beginning to think in those terms.  Cannot work forever, and I'd like to spend more time skiing and playing.

short run and swim on the schedule for today.  not enough time this morning, so I thought Lunch would work.  Too hungry, the plan is to do them right after work - quit at 5:30.

The infection thing seems to be yielding to home remedies.  It's sure a pain being on the bridge of my nose.   Thought I'd try calling the Dr see if he would represcribe the antibiotics.  I'd sure hate to still be sick on Sunday.

Real difficulties can be overcome, it is only the imaginary ones that are unconquerable.  - Theodore N. Vail

Didn't make it to the doc-in-the-box in time yesterday.  So I researched prevention and home cures.  Went to the store and bought it all.  Seemed to help.

One of the cures they said to remember is, aspirin.   Apparently it helps stop the spread of infection.  They had all the biology / chemistry to support the argument.  in addition it helps with the pain.  Very interesting.

directions 1st hour z2, second hour z3, last 1/2 hour upper z3-z4, so that's what I tried to do.

Starting out I felt weak, so I just rode real easy, enjoyed being out and the early morning. Nose stopped running and stopped hurting after a little while. Was careful not to readjust my glasses. started feeling reaonable after a while. Explored a country road I've not taken before to get a few more miles.

Did the I20 to Odessa and back on 191 route. From Odessa to Midland is an hour on the bike. As I turned the corner, there was a bicyclist in front of me. Looked like he was wearing One Hour Racing kit. Usually cannot catch thoes guys, but this is supposed to be z3, so I took it there and gradually caught him. turns out it's Roman who I can ride with but seldom catch. Turns out he cramped up bad yesterday. We rode for a while at 19 to 20, then pretty steady 20. I let him set the pace. After a while he said go on, he needed to take it easy , so I kept it in the Z3 range to the 1/2 way point. After that I did several reps of standing for two telephone poles. Passed some friends. Who later said, I just couldn't ride with you at 22mph. Cannot believe I was riding that fast into an easy head wind. But legs felt strong. Don't know where that came from but I like it.

Think I'll go to the Doc-in-a-Box and see if I can get some antibiotics.  This headache/nose ache/ sinus / runny nose is almost debilitating, and I've got a race next week.  supposed to be working this afternoon.
