Ordered a Kurt Kinetic Road Machine today. Found a great deal online. Don't tell Monica, although I think she knows. We needed a 2nd trainer for Monica to use anyway. Then my Minoura that I've had for years, started making awful, loud, grinding noises. We decided to buy 2 new Minouras. I decided that before ordering, I'd take this old one apart and see if I could figure something out. There really is not much to these trainers and I determined the noise had to be the bearings. I contacted Minoura, but they don't sell the bearings separate, but said they would sell me a replacement mag unit (trainer minus the frame) for $65. The cheapest I could find a replacement trainer is $120, so that sounded good, but I thought I'd see if I could find some bearings. It is hard to find a hardware store anymore. I found some bearings at one of the local bike shops for $4 each. That did the trick and the trainer is "quiet" again.
So then I got to figuring the $$ I had just saved and decided to put it towards a better trainer. I found a 20% off the sale price and free shipping for the Kurt Kinetic. So I ordered it. There are charts available that give watts per mph, so now I can train with power :). or if anyone wants to get me an early Christmas present, Kurt Kinetic makes a power computer for the trainer that gives a display of watts.
I may be in trouble, but at least I'll be fast =)

Don't like the scale at the gym, but it's probably not far off. Weighed with running shoes, shorts, shirt. I'll track progress on this scale.
