Nothing this morning. Took the opportunity to get some extra sleep and to rest the legs. My daughter graduates Saturday so I took tomorrow off to get in the last long bike in. Also supposed to run long Saturday morning, which I should have time for. Hopefully the achilles cooperates.

Masters swim tonight.

FYI, for those of you locals that use Gatorade endurance formula, BJ's Wholesale had the 12 packs of 6 lemon/lime and 6 orange last night in Victor. These are the 20oz bottles with the twist cap. I had never seen these available locally, so I thought I would share. I probably should have bought more than I did.

Probably one of my better swim sessions.  I have no idea how fast or slow I was as I forgot my watch, but I had no problem keeping as close as I normally do to the rest of the group.  Never felt uncomfortable and really felt like I could go at this pace for a lot longer.  Only anxiety came in wanting to keep swimming and being the only one left in the pool ;) !

One of the guys I swim with has been awol for the last month or so.  Turns out he spent the last 3 weeks climbing Mt. McKinley in Alaska!  Didn't get a whole lot of time to talk about that, but what I did was interesting!

Out early for an OWS with Dexter at Kershaw. Struggled to get comfortable in the water this morning. Pretty sure I swam a bit further than the distance due to my inability to sight this morning, I could have used a seeing eye fish :) . Thanks for dragging me out Dudley!

A little sticky this morning.  Legs felt a bit heavy, but not bad considering the weekends work outs.

I just spent the last 8 plus hours proof reading a 10035 line spread sheet.  My sponge is full!  I make no guarantees on the last 1500 lines though.  Double vision had set in by then :) ! I guess we'll find out when we go to load it into the system tomorrow!

I think I will either swim in the morning if the weather is good or at lunch time at the Y.  No energy left tonight.

4 weeks from today I get to sleep in! :) Time to start making lists!

I can't seem to get todays route to download off of the Garmin. I'll have to mess with it later I guess. Started out to do the 2 lake ride over to Honeoye, but when I got to CR18 they had just tarred and stoned it last week and I wasn't interested in riding in that for 6 or 7 miles so I turned around and went down 21 and did the normal around Canandaigua lake. My penalty for being short on mileage was to climb up Wyffles road to complete the ride. Changed shirts and shoes and headed out for the run. I think I decided on this run to change into running shorts at LP. I don't know if I can deal with the tri shorts running that far. They are ok for shorter races, but I like running in something loose. I also need something other than a black running cap to run in on sunny days. Other than that, all is well :) !

The goal of todays ride was to simulate race day as much as possible on a training ride. Manage proper nutrition, stay aero, and minimal stops. I managed to do most of this fairly well and was pleased with my pace. I still think I need to drink more, but there is only so much warm Gatorade I can stand. Stopped once in Avon to relieve myself, stopped at the half way point to get a couple of bottles of cold water and mix up another bottle of Gatorade. I stopped one more time in Caledonia for another opportunity to relieve myself. Then came today's major learning experience!

This morning before I left I put the new behind the seat bottle carrier and bag on. Grabbed a tube off the shelf (which was the same as the one in the old bag) and everything fit nice. Now as many flats as I have had on my road bike, my tri bike made close to 2400 miles with the same tubes. I have never had to change a flat yet. Well that ended today between Avon and Lima. Guess what? The stems on my tubes are too short for my tri bike rims! So the humbling call to my personal sag wagon lady :( ! The good news is all the new stuff I put on works great! Much easier to get to the bottles and a much cleaner set up!

A side note, between Caledonia and Avon I started passing all these road bikes with flags on. One group I road with for a mile or so I chatted with the leader when I was passing. They are on a 50 day trip and today's trip was from south of Buffalo to Canandaigua. I didn't get a chance to ask where they started or where they are going to, but he did tell me that next Friday is when they should reach their destination. Riding back into town we passed a lot of them, I hadn't even gotten to yet. They made great targets to keep the pace up!

Now off to find some tubes! Mission accomplished (and I have extras too!!)

This is a link to the tour these guys were on! 50 days of riding!

I figured I hadn't better push my luck this morning and try and make up one of the runs from earlier in the week. Still feeling ok, but not as good as yesterday morning.

I'm hoping the new gear I ordered for my bike (actually a birthday present from my wife :) , happy birthday to me! ) gets here today. I ordered a behind the seat bottle holder and a bento box so I don't have to carry gels and bars in my pockets. Tomorrows ride and next weekends are going to be the time to focus and practice nutrition with minimal stopping. If it doesn't show up today, it should definitely be here for next week.

Maybe we can get tonights swim in without dealing with bad weather.

Great swim tonight!  Kam came down and met Dudley and I, swam the buoy line twice.  Boy have things changed, if asked 2 years ago how to spend a birthday, swimming the buoy line wouldn't have made the top 1000!

I enjoyed the swim guys! Thanks!

TGIF!
