Seems that my trainer feels that my leg issue is a sciatic nerve deal. I explained how the pain seems to be a pulling feeling up the back of my leg and migrates around at times to my knee as well. She said it could be caused by increased mileage and speed over the last 6 weeks. Seems plausible, I am going to try the exercises she has given and try to get into see her sports medicince guy who she assures me will not tell me that I can't do the race.

Still hot in Texas! Fall can settle in just anytime now. One week from today it will all be over. The jitters come and go and today I really thought about going to the pool and swimming, but I had so many home projects trying to get the house cleaned up and mainly yard work that I wanted to do so I skipped it. Found some exercises to try to do for my knee/leg issue and I am going to try to do those tonight, plus ice it.

Walked some before and after 5 miler

I hope I am not taking this tapering thing to the extreme. Went for a run on the trail this morning with Yobondie. She did 13 and I joined her for the last 5 and then we walked a mile. My knee/leg issue started up shortly into the run. I didn't stretch before the run, but stretched good after. It feels pretty good right now. A friend was explaining the whole IT band issues and explained it like a criss cross muscle going over the top of your knee to hold everything in place. My big issue is that I can feel the pull in my knee but also in the muscle going up and down my leg. I really know very little about anatomy and muscles, but I think it is time to research this a bit more.....after the HIM. Mentally I just can't handle bad news and it was TOTALLY fine for last weeks 10 mile run and fine for the oly I did. Maybe the key is warming up on the bike before I run. HMMMMM, something to think about.

On another note, saw my 76 year old dad on the trail running and he must have gone at least 15 based on where I saw him on the trail and when I passed him going the other direction. I wonder what he is training for. He keeps all of his info "top secret" as I think he feels like if he tells someone he is going to do a certain race or a certain distance, they will tell him that he needs to take it easy.

Early morning run with the girls. My legs were still sore today so I was planning on going really slow, but the gals wouldn't let me, boo hoo!

I did not sleep well last night and got up at 4:30 this morning to work out. I am pooped out, my legs are tired, my eyes hurt and I am ready for a nap! I was trying hard to taper this morning, but my running partners kept pushing me along.
