Improved on last week's brick run pace by 4 seconds.

Woohoo! One worry less on my mind, the CA-125 test results came in and the levels are low therefore ovarian cancer is ruled out.  That means my triathalon season is going as planned and that laparascopic surgery for the complex cyst can be scheduled after the HIM, yay!

Take it easy this week, should be no more than 1000m, very low effort level.

352 calories burned during this workout.

Very good run this morning but fought constantly with myself to slow down on the swim.  Furthermore, I overlooked my coach's advice not to do more than 1000m but I was in a good grove so I went for seconds.

July 15

Rest day today and was I ever looking forward to that one!  Long weekend begins at 4 PM today too.  :)

Looks like I will be racing in the rain in Gravenhurst again this year.  Note to self: pack the WD40 for the bike chain, plastic tub, garbage bags, arm warmers and cycling jersey.  I will go easy with the pre-race hydration and electrolytes as I do not expect to sweat a whole bunch.  I have set a goal time of sub 3 hrs for this race: 30 min swim, 1h20m bike and 1hr run.  I can guarantee you that I will push hard on the run this time around.

The weight loss is finally kicking in big time, I lost another 0.6 lbs.  I am almost mid-way towards my objective of 135 or lower in time for Muskoka 70.3 in September.  It will happen.

I am surprised at how not worried I am about my CA-125 screening test.  I believe this complex ovarian cyst is just an inconvenience that needs to be removed and my body seems to think this is the case as well, that's it!

Tri club's Individual Time Trial

That was a fun time trial! 6 km north into 40 km/h into headwind and very fast going east and south for the second half of the course. I managed to finish 9th out of 15 overall, first of three ladies. I pushed hard, into mid to high Z4 (164 to 170 BPM) and ventured into low Z5 (171-172) for a minute or two. Never thought I could be that fast with all that headwind. Makes me wonder how I would have done with calmer winds...

I went to see my doctor at her request this morning regarding my latest ultrasound.

Results

- Uterus is normal.
- Right ovary measures 2.4 x 1.9 x 3.0 cm; left ovary measures 3.4 x 3.1 x 2.0 cm.
- A septated ovarian cyst filled with fluid on the right ovary measuring 2.1 x 1.5 x 1.3 cm and a septated ovarian cyst filling much of the left ovary; this one has solid components
resulting in a complex appearance.
- There is significant presence of fluid in the uterus cul-de-sac.
- Conclusion: septated simple right cyst but complex left cyst with associated fluid in the cul-de-sac.

My doctor sent me for an ovarian cancer blood screening test for higher levels of protein CA-125 in my bloodstream.  The normal level is 35 but if the count is over 40, she is sending me to the Sunnybrook Regional Cancer Centre pronto for more tests; I will find out this week.  I am also waiting for my appointment with a gynecologist at the William Osler Health Centre here in Brampton.  Either way, that left ovarian cyst has to be removed.

I also had an EKG done (awaiting results) and have yet to receive an appointment date at the William Osler pulmonary function lab in Brampton for a chest x-ray, pulmonary function tests and exercise challenge.

Individual time trial tonight... Should be a windy one!

July 12

Run
  • 1h 00m
  • 9.61 kms
  • 06m 14s /KM

Steady upper Z2 run over rolling terrain.

864 calories burned during this workout.

This run could have had potential for being faster had I not been sooo tired from all the work I have been doing for the past couple of days.

I was too tired to keep up with upper Z2 today but I did manage to improve my pace over other LSD runs I've had in the past. Today's run could have been much better if I wasn't feeling like a zombie and I am sure I could have acheived sub 6 min/km in upper Z2 easily.

No cookie ride today, I got paged just as I was about to take the bike out of the car at our meeting point.  The worst part was that this issue should not have been mine to begin with.  I hate those calls.  I will speak to my operational manager and get this sorted out so that the proper group gets paged next time this happens.  Still, I wasted a bike ride and three hours of my precious time on this.  On the other hand, I get paid for the trouble.  I currently stand at 34.5 hours overtime, including tomorrow and Tuesday morning's activities.  I won't claim all of it in paid time, I am banking 15 hours as lieu days and will take both on Thursday and Friday for sure.

I got myself new running shoes yesterday and I am totally in love with them!  I don't like the color (magenta not my cup of tea) but the fit is more important.  I also bought a sleeveless top, running shorts (other than the tri ones), a new sports bra (love this one!) and mini socks to complement the shoes, lol!  I also went for an oil and filter change this morning and I'm glad I got that out of the way today.

Thought of the day...  Me no like being single these days.
