Work. Maybe a lil' run, but shhhh I'm not supposed to before my VO2max test this Thursday.

Not much to report here.  Looking forward starting training again soon...

November 1

Still no training for a bunch of reasons but reason #12 is that part 2 of the studies I participated in last summer are kicking back in.  Next wednesday is installation of ECG + something to monitor BP for 24 hours.  And then, then next day is a VO2Max test.  I still have to decide if I'll do it on the bike or the run.  Any thoughts?  Anyway, the test is supposed to take place during my off-season so I won't start training seriously before the tests if I want them to be accurate and have a good point of comparison when we do another one at peak training before the start of the season.

October 31

Happy Halloween!

Some random thoughts on my race instead of a RR :

- Despite not having a full specific preparation for the race, and missing some key elements minutes before the start, I managed to do well.

- Any swim with a wetsuit will be good for me. They announced the day before the race that the water was 78F, meant ---> wetsuit legal! I had a good swim aside the fact my new goggles were foggy. I finished 98th overall including Pros and relays.

- The bike leg went well. Lots of hills and wind but I followed the strategy that was to push, but not too hard. 90th overall and a 22.2mph avg. :)

- The run was a disaster. I ran 15 minutes slower than what I thought I could do. I talked about it with coach. 1) I didn't have enough long rides in my legs. I had too much 25 to 35miles rides and didn't go long enough. 2) The hills got to me on the run, especially that as soon as I started running I felt my legs that wanted to cramp and the hills didn't help in that department. 3) The heat. But overall I'm happy about how I did and kept giving all I could. 1h49 with a 197th overall.

- The transition department was awesome! I got 8th and 6th fastest transitions on T1 and T2!

- My goal was to finish under 5hours (even if I wasn't sure if it was wise to think that) and finish in the first 25%. Goal is achieved by finishing in the top 5% and with 13 minutes to spare. :)

Thanks everyone for all the inspiration and support throughout the year!

October 30

I went to shop for advices (and sneakers) for the next year to come. I was a bit torn between buying 1 kind of shoe to do both speed and volume. The arch of my foot is still inflammed even with no training (almost) so I think it's maybe my beloved red shoes (Mizuno Ronin) that are responsible. So I went to see an experienced runner that sells running shoes since before I was born and ran more marathons that I have candles on my birthday cake. His suggestion is to go with these babies (Asics Speedstar) for until the end of December and when the speed/intensity stuff begins, buy some racers.

At the same occasion, I got to meet the Asics rep. I told him about a special project I had and he seemed interested. Have to work on that! :)

Lots of newbies. Not a lot of speed. Fun noetheless, aside from the snow hitting at 30mph.

Uh-oh. Snowing this morning. Refus global!

Hockey last night. We lost, sadly but I played somehow not so bad for my second game of the season with guys that are playing since 2 months. Lil' back something towards the end and this morning it transformed in back spasms when I was bending. I need to get some serious sleep here.

Oh come on! I thought race photographers were in business to sell their stuff. Is he REALLY trying to sell me his crap?!
