Old ladies need to remember they can't push it like they were still 20. Left knee is too tired to sprint hills and push 20mph all the way to Troutdale after pushing hard in a 10K. Beautiful afternoon though, and we had fun.

Bridge 2 Bridge 10K. PB of 54:48, an 8:48 pace!! I'm MOP!!!

Bridge 2 Bridge 10K. Just doing this was very exciting for me as I haven't run any kind of race since 9th grade track team. But check this out:

PB of 54:48, an 8:48 pace!! And I came in 307th out of 683 overall, 115th out of 372 women, and 10th out of 23 in my age group. I'm MOP!!! How exciting is that??? Cool!!

Thank you to White-Visor-Dude for keeping my pace up on miles 1-3, thanks to Green-Shirt-Guy for keeping my pace up as we headed into the Pearl District. Thanks to Lavendar-Outfit-Ponytail for a good pace through the Pearl, and BIG thanks to Super-Fast-Cadence-Dude at the end. Thanks to my trainer who made me run sprints so I'd have kick at the end, and of course, thanks to my hubby who was camera man and my bag-o-crap holder. :)

And if all that weren't enough, I got to meet Kori - a very cool BT chick - and we may do a Du together in April. We girls have to stick together since the boys all weenie-d out. :)

Now that the weather is gorgeous, DH and I are going for a bike ride!

March 24

Tomorrow is the Bridge 2 Bridge run. I have my packet, my shirt and I'm #1296. Here's the big bridge we're running across. That's Mt. St. Helen's in the background.

The Fremont Bridge is a steel tied arch bridge over the Willamette River located in Portland, Oregon. It carries Interstate 405 and U.S. Highway 30 traffic between downtown and North Portland where it intersects with Interstate 5. It has the longest main span of any bridge in Oregon, and is the second longest tied arch bridge in the world (after Caiyuanba Bridge across the Yangtze River, China). There's a bike ride that goes across it in August that is fun too. Ordinarily, non-motorized traffic is not permitted on the bridge, so it is rare to be able to enjoy the view at a leisurely pace.

The other bridge is the Steel Bridge. It looks just like this right now with the cherry trees in bloom.

Steel Bridge: Finished in 1912, the Steel Bridge is considered unique because it is one of the only known dual-lift bridges in the world. That is, the lower deck (Amtrak and freight trains) can be lifted independently of the upper deck (MAX, automobiles) to allow some clearance. The current Steel bridge replaced an earlier on at approximately the same spot that was built in 1888.

This is the bridge the Amtrak trains cross when leaving Portland to the south or east. Portland's MAX light rail train crosses on the top deck, along with cars and buses. There was a bike/pedestrian path added to the lower deck and the last time I ran across it, I saw a plane. All modes of transportation right there!

TGIF!!!!  And a rest day too. Wow!!

Doesn't get any better than that!! Dinner tonight is at the Harborside. Yum!!! I hope they still have the bread basket with 3 kinds of bread in it. :) Plus, the knitting shop called and said my yarn was in, so I can pick that up, and Bridge to Bridge is Sunday. What a great weekend!!!

Dinner will be at Portland Steak and Chophouse. Now I'm hoping for a good dessert menu. Or a really crappy one. I don't want to be tempted by "pretty good" dessert kcals. If I'm gonna have the dessert kcals, they better be "over-the-top-awesome" kcals. :)

Please-oh-please have this weather on Sunday...

Dennis!! Squats/mountain climbers, leg curls/abs (knee lifts), medicine ball pushups (last set w/feet on the BOSU)/Men's Health rows @ 20#!(last set w/one leg raised), jumps onto a bench, walking lunges, walking knee lifts, and one set of backwards walking lunges. And whatever else I forgot.

Great workout today!! A bystander said that my Men's Health rows looked really hard and he was impressed. This from a buff looking dude!!! I couldn't stop smiling. :)

I tried unsuccessfully to talk Dennis into doing the Du coming up April 7th. http://www.racecenter.com/springclassic/  I was not really surprised - he doesn't have a bike yet.

I was surprised at his reaction though. Usually I am the one that assumes that I am not up to running that far, etc. (or whatever really) - I'm still getting used to being fit enough to do whatever I want to do for the most part. There's still a mental fat chick in there sometimes that says "you can't do that". BUT, this time HE was the one who was all "but it's the weekend right before our 1/2 mary!!!" I'm all, "So what? We're supposed to run 7 miles that weekend and this is only two 5Ks and a 15 mile ride. Big deal." Look at me say big deal!! LOL! I may sign up for it. I have 'til next week to decide. Oddly, when I suggested the same thing to the hubby, I got the exact same response. Whassup with the guys?

AM: I'm moving in to the new cube today. It's nice to be in my own space again. Looks a little boring for me though. Needs decor!

Run sprints 14x50 + 18 minutes + W/U. 35:56, 134 AHR, 166 max HR, 468 kcals. Sprints went okay, but my right hamstring is incredibly tight/painful and we couldn't do any kind of pace afterwards. Brian's groin/hip was hurting him, so together we did a chatty 12 minute pace home. Some days you just feel old. But the internet SAID I was 32 - and the internet wouldn't lie...

We DID have time for sprints!! Yay!! Now I can "sleep in" tomorrow too. LOL!! And tomorrow I won't have to do a double.

I was incredibly hungry/snack-y tonight. Barely stayed under the kcal limit. Thank heaven there were no chips in the house.

"Slept in" until 6:25 this morning. It really felt good. I even got to work on time. Hopefully, there'll be time for my sprints this evening before my meeting. Otherwise, we'll call this a rest day and do them tomorrow morning.

Today is the last day of "training" for my job, and then tomorrow - back to my office. My office is now in a different (and better) building. Actually, the location isn't new to me, I worked in that building for the same bureau in a different job and now my new job has moved back there. It's like a giant shell game, but with desks. It will be great to go back where I know everyone.  I'm like Norm at Cheers there. Except there's no beer...

Three good things:

1. Working with friends.

2. Playing with friends (my meeting tonight).

3. Running with new friends. (Bridge to Bridge).

Dennis!!: Squats, leg press, "glute blaster", leg curls, walking lunges/knee lifts, abs on BOSU, leg lift abs. And probably some other stuff that I forgot.
Just me: (3 sets of 12 reps except as noted): alternating chest presses 50#/alternating rows 55#, On swiss basll: shoulder presses 12#/bicep curls 12#/triceps 12# dropping to 10# for next two sets. Last set shoulder press/bicep curls @ 15#. Twisty kneeling ab machine. 2 sets at 50#, 20 repseach side.

Today was an interesting day. My heart rate monitor wouldn't work for my run this morning (bad). Even with a longer run than usual I was on time getting out of the house (good). I remembered my library books (good), but forgot my gym bag (bad). I also forgot my watch (bad). Great outfit day - everyone said I looked fabulous (good). (I love that.) Except when I'm actually an idiot with no watch who forgets her umbrella (bad) and gets wet (bad) on the way to her hubby's office during lunch to get the missing gym bag. Hubby walked it over to the train stop (good), but my hair was pretty much wet through (bad), but it dried and looked like it always does (good? why do I use product???). On the way back to my office, I had to talk to a random person on the train (bad). Who, instead of being a mentally deficient individual and/or a bum, was actual mentally competent and non-threatening (good). By the time I got to my favorite sushi place for lunch, they were out of my favorites (bad) but I still got something I liked (good) got a free miso soup (good) and got back to work pretty much on time (good). My weight is still up (bad), but body fat % is down (good).  I had a great workout with Dennis (goodgoodgood), and came in exactly right on my nutrition for the day (good). All in all, mostly good, but really, I never knew what was happening next. Interesting day.

I think our legs were a bit tired still from Saturday. Plus it was raining. Actual rain, not that heavy mist stuff.

You never heard such whiny-ness. Well, maybe y'all with kids have. ;) My weight is up, I'm sick of running, I'm tired of dieting. I was hungry all day. We didn't get up early so we had to run our 40 minutes in the rain this evening. Whine whine whine. Sometimes I annoy even myself. Enough!!

Later: A hot shower, a little chocolate therapy and a cup of coffee can really improve a girl's outlook.  I think I'll go to bed early and be done with today.  I've got a workout with Dennis tomorrow, and those always make me happy. And with some extra upper body work and the hot tub afterward... can't wait!!

Three good things:

1. There's nothing wrong with me that a little chocolate won't fix.

2. Smart wool socks are warm even when they're wet.

3. I've got a workout with Dennis tomorrow!
