Brian wanted to lift, so I ran on the treadmill.
While I'm not a huge fan of running on the treadmill, sometimes it's useful. I ran 15 minutes of 9 minute miles this morning. It's a little faster than I usually do, so I really had to concentrate to keep the cadence up. My HR stayed at 154 for the 9 minute miles. 9:30 miles are more comfortable at 141 HR and easier to keep the cadence up.

Ride up Rocky Butte, over to gateway, and back home via Prescott. 11.42 miles, 12.75 avg, 39mph max. 53.23, 135 AHR, 177 MHR, 411 kcal. Very nice spin up Rocky Butte. Well, supposed to just spin - but I had a rabbit with a head start ahead of me - in full kit on a nice bike. Passed him early, held speed, and had a PB at the top! 8:18 Post to post. The rabbit jumped on my wheel and stayed there. Dennis and I may need to evaluate our speed goals for the summer. :)
Cycling just rocks. Running is for when you can't cycle. All there is to it. Going up Rocky Butte, I held 8mph where I usually hold 6. Then 7 where it used to be 5, and still had the legs to stand up and take off on the last climb, dusting the guy who had grabbed my wheel on the way up. Woohoo!!!
Missed my kcals AGAIN - over this time, and WAY too much fat. I'm totally getting a lecture. Thursday it was a triple workout so I was way under and was told "Get back on track, no excuses, get it right". He's really taking this diet police thing seriously. Friday was good, Saturday again way under. I just couldn't eat enough to balance the kcals burned on the 9 mile run. Today, we were supposed to go farther on the bike, but went home early so now I'm over, and ate too many fun things so my percentages are all over the place. Lessee, 3 days wrong, 1 day right. Yup. Lecture. Big time.
Hmm. There could be an angle to work on this. We did bag the ride a little early in favor of some 'o that "fun stuff" later. I wonder - maybe I can call it some sort of cardio... and put in the kcals for that... If so, do I need to wear the HR monitor "during" or can I just guess? LOL!!! I think that's definitely TMI for the trainer. I certainly wouldn't be able to keep a straight face on Tuesday. Better just take the lecture. And try not to smirk.

I must've been more tired today than I thought. I laid down for 'a few minutes' and was totally asleep for an hour and a half. Felt good.
9 miles! We did it! That’s the farthest either of us has ever run. Brian did great – he missed the 8-mile run a couple weeks ago, and I was a little worried that jumping from the 6 to the 9 wasn’t going to be a good thing. He says he’s okay though, no damage anyway – he’s really sore and tired. He got a little payback – I had enough legs left to kick it in the last ½ mile and he did not – this time. We ended up just running in our neighborhood. Too lazy to drive somewhere to run. LOL!!
We are not mildly pokey. We are really REALLY slow. We were both still sore from Thursday and pretty much had 10 minute+ miles all the way. I guess it still gets the job done. It did show Brian that his plan of a sub 2hr time might be a bit challenging. It’s still 5 wks out though, so maybe we’ll get faster. We learned that I need to get to bed on time on Sundays and Mondays so we can stick to your schedule – especially getting those sprints done on Tuesday. Those really kicked Brian’s butt. He needed more recovery time before the big run.

Ran this last night to de-stress after my workout. A triple!
Today is supposed to be a rest day. Probably a good thing. It's raining cats & dogs and pretty much has been all day. So as usual for a friday night, tonight is eat at Milo's, possibly a bit of shopping therapy at the mall nearby, and then stay up late sewing. Love it. I've got two things really close to being done.
Apparently Dennis is taking his role as diet police very seriously. I've been dinged already and it's day 2. For all you Over the Hedge fans out there - "I like-a da cookie!" and I have one eensy Paradise cookie after lunch most days. By eensy, I mean 50 cent piece size. One bite for most people. They sell 'em for 25 cents. I already told him that my cookie was non-negotiable. Of course, so may be the extra treadmill time, and crunches I get. LOL!
I love looking at magazines at Barnes & Noble. There is something on everything. I read a (short) article on Pamela Anderson's mind, and flipped through the latest in fashion (white pants are in!). In Triathlon has the gear buying issue on the newstands right now, so I drooled over ZIPP wheels and a couple tri-bikes. And then didn't buy a darned thing. Magazines are great!
Lord have mercy. I discovered COJ. And I am a manfume wearing sissy man with a score of 70. LOL!

8x50yd sprints + 20 minutes. The first three sprints were fun. The rest were work. The rest of the run felt good but a little cold.
Dennis! New place, new month, new dedication to the diet.
I gave Dennis goals, he's all over them thinking up stuff to do. :-) The club is VERY posh. Towels everywhere, NICE cardio equipment, weight machines, very nice. The kind of place that supplies every known bathroom supply on the counter in the locker room. I'm pretty sure the only thing missing was Cabana Boys. But I could have missed seeing them if they were busy. ;-) I may have to use the hot tub afterwards on Tuesday. That looked really inviting. Still and all, today's workout was probably the worst workout we've had the entire 11 months we've worked together. No connection, no groove, no flow, my shoulder hurts in a bad way and I couldn't complete a lot of the exercises so no feeling of success at the end. I arrived stressed and tense, and left the same way. Traffic home sucked. I was cranky-pants all through dinner, so I finally decided I'd just go run it off, full stomach or no. That helped. Now I'm relaxed, and can go to bed. I think Tuesday will be better.
How do you put a second run on this log? guess I'll put tonight's run on tomorrow's log.

AM: Our run this morning was great. It was a gorgeous morning. A nearly full moon and morning stars turned into clear blue/orange-y sky. So pretty.
PM: Dennis!! I'm gonna be crying mercy before the end of this month. I went and said, "I want climbing power". Holy moly. Usually he doesn't bother warning me that I'm gonna hurt. This time, he starts our workout telling me I'm gonna hurt. Bad sign. I'm going to bed early.
This new posh club has a hot tub in the locker room. Heaven. Now I'm all relaxed and sleepy. I gotta get me one of those for the house. Still haven't seen any Cabana Boys though. I wonder where they keep 'em.
