The pace is a little off. We walked the last block, and I forgot to shut my watch off when I got to the house. I was probably closer to 9
It was REALLY hard to get going on this run. I didn't want to leave, then just wanted to head home. Pthhhbt. And there was nothing really wrong. I'm sore as h3ll today, but nothing hurt to run so no excuses. Finally, I bribed myself with strawberry ice cream at the home show today. A twice yearly treat. (I get it again at the fair in August if I don't have funnel cake.) So with that thought, suddenly the run wasn't so bad. LOL!
While we were out, we talked to an older guy out walking his corgi. She was a pretty little tri-color just like my little dog was. I stopped to get my corgi petting fix, and we talked to the guy for a few minutes. I sure miss my little guy. I think it's time to get a new pup.
We got our veggie starts today at the Home Show. our three favorite tomatoes: Sungold cherry tomatoes, yellow brandywine, and Brandy boy. This year we have sworn that we will water regularly... like we always swear we'll do. LOL! Maybe I should have Dennis put that on my training schedule. If HE says to do it, I usually do.

A quick, not too strenuous ride out Marine Drive to Salty's and back. Headwind going out kept us at 15 or so, but 20 was easy-schmeezie coming back. Nice!!
:) DAY OFF!!! REST DAY!! TGIF!!! :)
We were busy today. We slept in a little, went and rented a pickup, loaded it full of stuff to take to the dump, and picked up 2 yards of compost on the way home. We shovelled that out, cleaned out the truck and then went and got a half yard of sand. Unloaded that, cleaned out the truck, took it back and were ready to ride - all by about 3:45 or so. Cool!
I hurt today, big-time. Even my abs hurt from Thursday and my abs are steel. They NEVER hurt. My thighs hurt when I'm not moving. It's awful. So the bike ride was no hammerfest. Just a nice easy ride out and back. It felt great! Plus, being a friday, there were hardly any people on the path. That was nice too. So only kindof a rest day.
We went out to Wild Abandon again. Sangria, garlic bread, and we split a 1/2 lb burger and the big Oregon Dream salad. YUM!! Don't tell my trainer, but I had 1/2 of a chocolate eclair for dessert from Zupan's. Good that we worked hard AND rode today!!
I'm looking forward to Tuesday - Dennis will have me a whole new training schedule for the next 9 weeks. Cool!! We went over what I was willing to do and what my husband was willing to do, LOL! I told Dennis I would do 2 or 3 early runs a week. I didn't tell my husband. Yesterday, my hubby said without prompting that he'd do an early run on Tuesday's so that I could get in a run on my trainer day. I said OK!... what about a couple early runs - just, you know, for the next few weeks? He thought about it and actually said that it "might be nice now that it's light". and that he could do 2 or 3. Sweet!!! I didn't even have to bribe him! Woohoo!!

Dennis!! Bear crawls/sprints, sprints/squats, inchworms, hops, duck walk. 3 sets of each, mostly full-court on the b-ball court. My legs are done now, the rest of me will go tomorrow. Kcals are estimated. I changed the battery on my watch and haven't reset all the info. All the kcals are coming out LOW!!! (Like 450 for 90 minutes of bike riding.)
Tonight was almost all core according to the trainer, however, my legs are toast. Not sure how that works, but OK, I'll go with it being a core workout. Dennis is setting me up a new training schedule to get me ready for TdB and the July 4th 1/2 mary. I'll have 2-3 days of riding, 2-3 days running, my trainer workout, a no-trainer strength training workout, and two core workouts. Gotta do my share for the May/June challenge!!
I think I needed last week's slacker holiday. Now I'm psyched to get all hard core again. I hope that my husband won't argue too much about 5:30 runs. He said "NO MORE 5:30 RUNS!!!" a while back. But then, he also said no marathons, and yesterday he sent me a picture (see below) of the Paris marathon and said we should run it. A man of mixed messages.
Tomorrow is hard manual labor. Shovel and everything. And a bike ride!
Dennis!! My last Thursday with Dennis. I'm really bummed about this, but I cannot afford a trainer twice a week anymore. And I reached the big goals of weight loss and bike strength that I agreed to drop back to once a week when I got to them. I just really like our workouts. So, kinda bummed today.
On the other hand, I'm looking forward to Thursday night Wheelmen rides. It's a 26 mile hammerfest with a hard hill thrown in at the beginning. I found out last summer that I can keep up - mostly. And that was about 20 pounds ago, so I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next week. Thank god its a re-group ride and that there are lights.

Bike ride twice up Rocky Butte and short cut home in the rain. 48:27, 10.06 miles, 12.52 avg spd, max sp 31 mph. 130 avg HR, 171 max HR. 1st time up was 9:37. My legs were tired, and I didn't time the food for optimum performance. I could have done a third trip though w/o a problem. Good thing we didn't though. It rained on us on the way home. Brrrrrrr!
After all that nice weather today, we got rained on at the end of our ride. I was cold already and rain didn't help. It was good encouragement for a fast sprint to the house though. Our ride was pretty good. I'm starting to stiffen up from yesterday's Core/weight session though. Tired and slightly stiff don't make for good speed or bike handling. We went two trips up the butte. The first one, I went to jump my bike up onto the curb to ride the (narrow) sidewalk through the tunnel, and sorta low-speed crashed into the rock wall. Didn't really hurt much, but kinda slowed me down and took a little skin off. Hopefully I didn't hit hard enough for actual bruising. That would look so nice with my tank top at the gym... The scrapes should be gone pretty quick, and they're not that noticeable. I knew the second I decided to try it that I wouldn't make it. Why on earth did I continue?
Another beautiful day. We're riding tonight, a couple of Rocky Butte hill repeats and back home. A quickie! ;)

Dennis!! Really good workout tonight. Wish I'd worn my HR monitor. 25 min treadmill warmup. Bear crawls/sprints, lines/jumps, incline bench press/BOSU jogging, pull-downs/mountain climbers, leg extensions/curls but with the air weight/ankle thingy. And roller to start and end.
I really liked my workout tonight. He always keeps it interesting. I need to keep at the roller work though. My left IT band and now my quads are tight. I've gotta make an extra effort to work in stretching/roller - its really easy to skip.
Dennis is going to work on a new training schedule for me - I'd really like to do the 82 mile option for the Tour de Blast, but thats just about 50 miles more than I've ridden in one ride, and half is uphill. Still, perhaps its doable now. and there's 9 weeks to train.
Dennis was talking smack today. 7:43 mile pace for Sauvie. I SO do not believe he'll do that. That's over a minute off my pace, and he came in behind me. Yah, yah, sore knee. Whatever. It's still sore, so I'm not buying it. I may eat crow, but I think I can shave enough off my time in the next 9 weeks to come in ahead of him again. Guess I better get the running shoes out again, and stop slacking.

A dog walk is better than nothing! I gotta flog my trainer for a new training plan. I need it written on the calendar so I can check it off. If it ain't written, I can rationalize myself out of any exercise at all. Pathetic. Just laziness.
On a more positive note, I get Friday off!!!! We need to do some serious yard work, trimming, weeding, a trip to the dump, get compost, sand, stone dust for a path, finish some planter boxes, and generally clean the place up so we can start having people over for patio parties. I love those. Friday is supposed to be around 70, so all in all a great day to do yard work. And go for a bike ride - probably with short sleeves and no leg warmers. I will feel like I'm riding naked after a winter of l/s jerseys, triple layers and a jacket. Maybe we'll do a slow version of the Thursday night wheelmen ride that I'll be starting to do next week. No more twice-a-week Dennis. Sigh. But I get Friday off!!

Thursday night ride route for distance. Thursday it will be for time. 33 mph max speed down Fremont!!! Yes!!!
Weeding mostly, carting compost, not a lot, but hey! It burns kcals.
I can't believe my 3 day weekend is already over!! I want to back to Saturday and get more stuff done. :) Actually, we got a ton of stuff done. It's just that the ToDo List is always HUGE!! It was great to have nice weather, get in some good cardio and enjoy the weekend. I should do this again in May. Only go all sewing for that one.
I'm looking forward to a day off tomorrow.
