Lawn mowing. Tall grass and a reel mower. Lots of good upper body. And muttered cursing.
I love weekends. :) I got up at the crack of 9am this morning. MMmmmm. I LOVE sleeping in. I picked up some ravioli at the farmers market. Guess what we'll have after our bike ride this afternoon! Sadly, I have to be at work for a while today. Software testing on a deadline. Gotta love it.
Scratch the ravioli. I forgot it in the fridge at work. I'm stoopid. Fun bike ride, though. This time the wind was at our backs on the way out. It made for a relatively comfortable 23-24mph. Nice! I was surprised that we didn't see all that many bikes out. Guess everyone else was already done and home by 5:30. We did see one of the Thurs Night Ride guys out there. The way back was definitely slower. I really could only do19. Spots of 20-ish climbed my HR up too high to be able to maintain. Hubby's knee has been popping and was 'tired' - not really hurting, but not normal either - so I pulled mostly. That works out. I want to do the Luna sprint tri this August, so I better not get used to drafting.
Speaking of... since I don't consider the 11 miles of race out at PIR a really good workout, maybe I should start pulling sometimes there. :) That would get me in good shape to do the tri. Keeping a 20-22mph pace pulling out there would get me an awesome bike time.

TGIF!!! It's Friday, and a Rest Day!!!
Instead of dinner out, we are having stirfry. Honey Sesame Chicken. It's a new recipe, simple but sounds pretty yummy. We may go see Indy, hard to say. If so, I see buttered popcorn in my future. :) MMMMmmmmm. Can't tell I bike to eat, can ya?
Housecleaning for tomorrow. My MIL is flying in at 9:30 - PM thank goodness. I've got dustbunnies that have entire colonies populated by dog fur and mud from the back yard. Kona, please stop digging. That hole is deep enough. Sigh.

Trainer session. We are working on sprint muscle strength. :)
Double workout days are great. I get to eat! This morning was a scone with chocolate chips and hazelnuts in it. YUM!! It's my favorite one, and I only get it once a month or so. Dipped in coffee with cinnamon - mmmmm.
Thursday night ride is tonight. Should be fun. Hubby and I are still trading bikes. We'll see if we go. Rain=no go. Neither of us like to ride fast and take corners on wet streets shared with teh moreonz in cars.
Great weather! About 56 degrees, and overcast, but no real wind, and no rain. And WOW!!! What a GREAT ride! I was riding Hubby's Roubaix (abou 3# lighter than my bike) and I pr'd up Rocky Butte. Woo hoo! There were around 15 people on our ride - Dennis the ride leader, Mike as always, Napoleon, Guy with aero wheels and pot belly, Sacha on a Lemond because he broke the fork on his Moots, older guy with grey ponytail, a new guy in bicycleattorney.com kit, Richard and another new guy on a mountain bike with regular pedals, Debra, and a few others. A good-size group.
This time up Rocky Butte, I managed to be ahead of mountain bike guy, Richard, and at the end blew past Hubby and Dennis. Cool! Even the other hill I hate - Prescott to Fremont - wasn't quite as awful as usual. It starts out gradually, and just gets steeper the whole way up. The guys just blast up it around 15 mph, and I'm dying by 3/4 of the way. I always hope for traffic on Fremont so they'll have to wait. It worked and we all regrouped.
This time I didn't get the jump at the light, and Mike got out ahead of me. He pulled for a while, and then when he started slowing down, I jumped out ahead. Possibly should not have done this as the fast boys cut the corner at the turn, and I couldn't keep up with the pack on the way back to the post office. Still, I wasn't far behind.
They are re-paving Airport Way, so each week has been a different stretch of chewed up pavement. This week it seemed shorter so that was nice. This time it didn't seem that hard to keep up with the group, and I was able to get in on some of the sprint to the turnaround - fun! I need to pay attention better. This guy ahead of me got a muscle cramp and I was watching him go all over the road and the rest of everyone passed me. :P drat!
On the way back, I was chatting with this new guy and we got separated from the pack (pay attention!!!) and then got stopped by a light. Doh! We really had to hustle to get... stopped by the next light. LOL! Then we REALLY had to work to catch up. We did though.
The group was split on IKEA road, and it didn't look like the main group was going to catch back up. Hubby wanted to go be in the sprint group, so I started going around people, and then the ride leader says to me, "Hey why don't you pull us up to the other group." He was joking, but I said OK!!! and took off. They all jumped on, and then after a bit, Bicycleattorney.com Kit Guy pulled around me and then we caught up to them. Nice!
We got a baysturd in a pickup following us on Cornfoot Rd. He thought it was funny to drive up and slam on his brakes. And then ride his wheels in the dirt to cause a big dirt cloud. Too bad it's illegal to drag people out of their stoopid-azz, jacked-up, compensating pickup trucks and pound them with a pump. Cuz that'd be awfully satisfying.
On a morepositive note, I managed to keep up with the back of the FedEx sprint group for a short ways. (They aren't a FedEx team, we just sprint to the FedEx sign.) That is a huge improvement for me. At mile 29, I've already worked pretty hard and I've always just watched them go before. From where they dropped me. LOL
In spite of truck-boy, it was a GREAT ride. And I am definitely going bike shopping this weekend. :)

Run after work.
Worked late so just a little run to do something. Went to bed on time though, so that's good. :)
My silly pup is starting to be allowed out in the house while we're not there. She's growing up! She has been 'hiding' when called to get in her pen. Or she'll run toward you, then take a hard right and run upstairs. So now she gets to stay out. Little stink gets her way. She rats out the cat too. The cat decided to get on the table (Cat is NOT allowed on the dining room table. NOT!!! and she knows it.) So she gets up there anyway, and Kona barks barks barks until someone comes to chase the cat off the table. I told Kona she was good. She was all happy-wriggly. I took care of it ma!

Most of my lifting homework. Missed 1/3 of the ab sets as we were short on time. Did get about 12 ab sets done though.
Dogs required an outing. Hubby ran the legs off teh corgi, I power-walked the elderly shepherd. She's not a runner now. :(
We dropped off the floor samples and ordered the floor! Yay!! We are hoping that it will be delivered to our house on Friday afternoon. I never thought that A) I would get vinyl, B) that it would be a tiled pattern and a large one at that, and C) that it would look like stone. Go figure.
It should only take about 90 minutes to install. Then we can work on putting the trim and moulding pieces where they belong. I need to do some edge-painting, and then we really do need to finish putting the handles on the drawers. Next purchase: backsplash tiles!

31mph max speed

Tonight was bike racing out at PIR. This time there was only 7 of us in the Novice Women's group. Last time I think it was more like 20-25. Gauranteed points anyway. We were going the same way as last time, but this time the end sprint was into the wind. My number for the 2008 season is 2842. There's that 42 again.
The same chick pulled the first 4-5 laps. (Did not understand this. ??) First lap was about 19mph or so, the rest ranged between 20 and 22 - mostly right at 21.9. On the last lap, this other chick took over the pull, and tried to drop the group at the beginning of the sprint. I grabbed her wheel and waited...waited... then jumped to her left (leeward side) and tried like h-e-7-7 to pass her. I need to work on my sprint and bike handling. She could stand up to get that last erg of power. I could neither stand up nor pull any more speed out. I couldn't get that last third of her wheel. BUT, I did get 2nd, which is totally awesome! :)
Stats were reviewed later: my HR was at 181, and I had managed 31mph. Sweet!
Now, I realize that I did not have to battle for position at the turns, I did not pull so I had plenty left in my sprint tank, and our average speed was about 21, so no world class excitement, BUT I learned some good stuff, and had fun. :)
Oh, and I got 2nd!!!!!!!

For a "rest" day, I'm exhausted. We went out to b-fast with my MIL who flew in last night. Made out our menu for the week, and wrote up a grocery list. Cleaned out the fridge, and then went to work on putting in the new floor.
We moved all the living room stuff waaaaaay over, unloaded the antique secretary and glass cabinet and put all the stuff in the guest room, moved all the dining room stuff into the living room, then unloaded the freezer/fridge and moved it to the living room. Moved the range to the living room, unhooked the dishwasherand moved that to the living room. Unrolled the new-new floor and let it "relax" for about 45 minutes. Painted in the kitchen. Took up the old-new floor to use as a template, and made sure that when we cut out the new-new vinyl floor all the fake "tile" lines would be square to the door and cabinets. Cut out floor. Install the new-new floor. This actually only took about 30 minutes and was the easiest thing we did all day.
Once the new-new floor was in, we put the stove back and then the fridge. The fridge door sticks and it refuses to be level. Lovely. While hubby and MIL worked on this, I weeded the garden and planted all my peppers and herbs. 2 hrs later I was tired and they gave up. The appliance store will be called tomorrow. Fridge is under warranty.
After a trip to the hardware store for silicone and then the grocery store and Baja Fresh for dinner, hubby started on installing the dishwasher. First, we had a little exercise in drying the floor. MIL had run water in the sink and flooded it out underneath. Exactly what we did the last time we installed the floor. She felt bad. We thought it was funny that it had happened again exactly as before. Total deja vu. So after we ran fans and the hair dryer a while, we went back to dishwasher installation. Well, hubby did. MIL and I put all the stuff back in the cabinets and put the dining and living room back together.
Dishwasher did not cooperate and the whole plumbing bit leaked like a sieve. After much irritation and minor cursing, all is well, our house has been put back together, the floor looks AWESOME, and I am going to bed. As soon as I get my clothes together for work and PIR tomorrow night. I'm TIRED!!!
