Elitch's was vetoed by the boys last night so Ted and I did do the ride - part of it anyway. My knees and thighs started grumbling so we cut it short. Glad we rode to the start so we could just ride home rather than back to the car. Total ascent: 3400'

Big family togetherness was walking to BeauJo's for lunch. We waited forever for one of the pizzas so they comped us $35 -- bill was still $60! I hate taking teenagers out to eat!!

Today's plan: Elich's? I'd rather do team evergreen ride, but should do something the kids want to do, at least once a year ;)

May 24

Slept 12 hours and missed swim and bike.  Bummed I missed the fun, but I must've needed the sleep because even my neighbor's continuously howling dog didn't wake me til after 10:00.

8am OWS @ Chatfield; 9:30 bike.

Swim felt good tonight - could feel the catch and pull. Could also smell a lot of perfume. Really need to start swimming in the morning when the teenagers are sleeping.

I expected my legs etc to feel much worse than they have after the marathon. I did not expect to feel brain dead for days, however. It's like I'm exhausted but don't feel like sleeping. And when I finally do go to bed the neighbor's dog cries and cries because they're out of town -- where's their housesitter dammit?! So went to bed at midnight last night, woke at 6, went back to bed til 8, missed running (which I don't think I'm ready for anyway) and morning swim. I wish I was at home on a hammock in the shade - I promise I would sleep and not lay on the couch watching bad movies!

Another weird thing -- my legs and ankles and feet were really swollen -- just starting to get better now. And I gained weight! Who gains weight running a marathon. I didn't even pig out after the race. Guess I had a little too much salt before during and after. But I was never dehydrated :)

Today's plan: ez morning run w/ dogs. Maybe swim tonight.

Dog update: Jack is doing fine. He's back to his hyper self and is a danger to everyone and everything w/ his lampshade. He's stuck in the house for at least a week so he doesn't get his ear bleeding again with running around the yard. Glad I don't work at home. Moose is stuck in the side yard indefinitely -- if he's in the house he'll get Jack wound up and if he's in the back yard he'll jump that fence and go visiting. Fence project needs to start soon before Moose gets bored and starts eating the house.

It's gonna be beautiful out so I gotta do something..... Work maybe?
