Easy recovery ride on The Loop. No seriously--despite the 18.3 mph average it was a pretty easy ride. Garmin tells me I spent over 30 minutes of this ride in Zone 1! Can't believe it. First time on the bike in 6 days and I'm out there rocking it at a low HR/RPE.
I pulled a Scheele and kept it in the big ring the whole time. I also tried to spin a lower cadence than what I normally do. On Zen & the Art of Triathlon the guy was talking about an article he read in Triathlete magazine that talked about how spinning faster may not be the best use of your body's resources and that he tested it out and came up with some pretty interesting results, so I figured I'd try it out today too and I think it's something I'm going to be playing around with some more. Average cadence was 80 RPMs according to Garmin and PowerTap confirms 80 average while pedaling (72 average for the whole ride).

Swam the whole 1/2 Iron distance. Well, technically I was 12 yards short, but that's okay. Started out SUPER EASY because we went to the pool as a family ASAP right after dinner and I had eaten more than I would have had I known during dinner we were going to the pool. Just took it nice and easy so that things didn't come up that didn't need to come up. Was a little burpy but not too bad otherwise. Feeling pretty good that I can hold 1:50s and feel like I'm just chillin, wearing my swim trunks. Really looking forward to seeing how I do on race day.

Ran after dinner on the Heart Hospital Hills (Triple H). Didn't ride because it was rainy/stormy when I would have needed to leave. Cleared up over the next hour and was actually sunny during my run. Weird.

Distance is about 1/4 mile off because I didn't start it right away when we left, but that's okay. Just an easy recovery ride out to the 162nd St exit and back on HWY 2. I told her we should ride to the lake and back and she insisted on riding on the highway. *shrug* At least she rode side-by-side with me this time instead of insisting on going single file!
