Run last night was cancelled due to thunderstorms. Really...not much thunder and lightening, but quite a bit of rain, so that was a good enough excuse for me. I did manage to get to the HW store for light bulbs and weed killer. Then, not much of anything else. By 7p, I was ready for bed. Plus, my satellite receivers are not working (maybe it's the dish, itself), so not much to watch except for a few channels on the antique TV. (Amazing that thing still works and with satellite.) Slept pretty good and woke up feeling closer to normal. What is wrong with me? Anyway, today, I decided to give myself a bit of a break. I am going to yoga at lunchtime, then home. I will start my weekend cleaning chores and decide later whether I do a makeup swim or run or neither.

Yoga class was good. I will be sore, most likely. Then, I forced myself to run the crazy hill workout I was supposed to have done yesterday. Who comes up with these? (The details are very specific in TP and assume perfect geography.) What happened to just plain old hill repeats?

The crazy fatigue I have had the last few days seems to be improving. Maybe I will start feeling normal again.

Well crap. I just could not get my head into the swim this morning and pulled the plug after my warmup. My calves were crabby, I was running late, and I'm in an awful mood. I simply do not do well with having every hour of my day scheduled. It makes me cranky. I have got to get up earlier in the morning. I think that an extra 30 minutes will really help. Today, we have to shut down at work at 3p for an email upgrade. Maybe I can use that extra time productively.

Swam inside. Rain outside, which doesn't matter to me swimming, but I didn't want to get my towel and stuff wet. Plus, I didn't have to feel like I was in the way of the swim team. The 10x25 repeats were tough, and I was really struggling on the last set. The last 400 was supposed to be a build set, but I didn't have enough in me to do anything but swim nice and easy. I had to alternate the kick set with flutter/breast kick to make sure the calves behaved. Found out I can breast stroke kick as fast as I can flutter kick. Then, mixed in a bit of breast stroke on the last set. I was so tired, I could feel myself sinking.

Hurray for zone 2! I finally feel like I am really running again. And I really didn't spend much time in zone 2. I have to get my legs used to going fast again. Also, even though last week's soreness is gone, my quads still feel fatigued and heavy. I need to use the foam roller to see if I can "squeeze" out whatever lactic acid yucky stuff just seems to be hanging around.

HR monitor and I had a fight on the bike. I am using the new strap, and til today, it worked pretty well. But, during the first interval on the bike, HR appeared to steadily begin to drop. I tried to fix, adjust, reawake, or whatever, but once the HR registered in the 50s, I got rid of the monitor. Then, when I went to upload to TP, only 30 minutes of my ride was recorded. Maybe the memory was full. That would explain the "short" workout, but not sure it would affect HR reading. Will try again tomorrow.

Otherwise, good workout and effort level was definitely z3. Legs are feeling better...finally.

Really should have gone swimming this morning. If we are thunderstorm-free this afternoon, I will go after work. If weather is uncooperative, I will do a strength workout and/or possibly a yoga class.

Yep. Should have swum in the a.m. Ended up at work later than planned and lots of thunder going on when I got home. Rather than head to the gym, I just decided to do an easy core workout at home. I definitely get lazy in the e

ez z1 run

I am tired and sore, but I felt good about this run. It was relaxed and comfortable.

I asked for and got relief on the overall training sked. Mostly, I just can't make myself do the doubles/triples on Sundays. This upcoming week, the 2-fer on Sunday is gone and it is just a long run. Big sigh of relief. Maybe I can somewhat enjoy the weekends and get some stuff done.

These long workouts in the hot summer just wear me out. Luckily, 2+ hours of the ride included a small group of friends, and we rode paceline. Really, that's cheating...like swimming with paddles...but we were easily at 18mph by the time I headed out on my own for the remainder of the time. Nothing like soft pedaling at 20+ mph. By myself, effort was harder, and I really started to feel tired. Finished strong, though. Took a bit of a breather before heading out on the run. Started at a walk and then very slow. Was able to build up toward the end, feeling okay.
