Better With Veggies

Should have been 12 miles, but I stopped at 10 due to some nagging pains that concerned me. Both knees were starting to both me, plus my right ITB & hip. Some good stretching in my future (I already have Dr B scheduled for Wednesday).
Still feeling my effort level is higher than I expect for these paces right now - hope that gets better soon.

So...tired...
Abbott woke us up last night/this morning at 2AM pacing around the room and making lots of noise. He would come over next to me and stick his head in my face, obviously trying to wake us up. We finally took him outside to see if he needed to go, he went quickly and came right back in. No luck though - he kept doing it and at then jumped halfway on the bed (front paws), which he is NOT allowed to do and NEVER tries. We turned on the TV to see if there was some crazy storm coming or something, but couldn't find anything. I sat on the floor with him for a while and pet him, hoping that would calm him down. It was wierd, he wouldn't look at Kirk (which is usually his favorite person) - he kept bothering me when we tried to go to bed again. We finally switched sides of the bed and Abbott started pestering Kirk. He then jumped COMPLETELY onto the bed - okay, something is very wrong, what is going on?! We actually tried to convince him to get on the bed and stay there now, thinking that might help, but he refused to jump back up. Ahh! I want to go to bed! Finally, he decided it was okay to sleep (it was at least 3:30AM by this time) and let us rest. So - very tired this morning and we still don't know what was going on with Abbott last night.

Treadmill Run at LTF - first workout at the new gym. It earns the name of Club Med, for sure. Listened to an audiobook during the run, which was kinda cool.
HR was nice and low, by RPE felt higher than normal again - I wonder what that means?
Time doesn't mean much today, as Coach Harry worked with me on my stroke at the end of the session today. I need to work on keeping my elbows high and rotation, so that my hand entry will be sooner and deeper (fingertip drill SLOWLY).

It's Thursday!! That means only 7 more days of work until vacation! Yikes, that means we should probably finalize our wine country itinerary and make our reservations, before it's too late! Guess that will be added to our to-do list for this weekend. :)
We went to dinner @ BluePoint last night - very yummy stuff. Some of the best Foie Gras I have had in a while, my favorite food by far. I don't think we've actually ever eaten in the restaurant there before, generally we have gone for drinks and sushi at the bar. Kirk and GW had this massive plate of sushi that looked really good too. :)

Kind of a bad run this morning. The hills seemed bigger and longer than I remember and by mile 4 I was pretty much toast. My effort level seemed much higher than normal at this pace. I was feeling disappointed by the end, but I decided I just have to get used to running faster again. I'll keep doing this hilly route and it will get better. NYC is not flat, so I should just get used to it! :)
Working from home this morning - man I get SO much done when I do this. We had a guy come in for carpet and hardwood estimates today, so I wanted to be here and ask all the questions I had. It is WAY past time to get new carpet (builder grade carpet does not wear too well), so I'm really excited to be able to pick out something new and CLEAN! We're now debating between getting more of the prefinished hardwood that we already have or do we get nice laminate (which actually looks the same - really!). Not sure the resale difference of the two, guess we'll have to do some research. The selling point on the laminate that we like is that Abbott won't scratch it up. Our current hardwood is pretty scratched up, so that would be a HUGE plus.
I'm done with my workouts for the day, having done my run this morning. I didn't even have to get up too early, since I'm working at home. I could get used to this!

Quick ride on the trainer, before rushing off to carpet/hardwood store and dinner with Kirk's parents.
Last week of work until vacation - hooray! :) Today is also Kirk and my wedding anniversary - 7 years today! Our "big" celebration dinner is actually tomorrow night - a cool wine/beer/food pairing dinner @ 5 Seasons, so tonight we just have to remember to eat a slice of our cake! (Yes, it's still yummy, believe it or not - or at least it was last year)
Wedding Cake preservation trick: place cake inside freezer ziplock, removing all air. Place this inside of a tupperware container. Place all this inside the freezer - works great! It helps that our cake was fondant, which also preserves the cake nicely. :) Our cake person (what do you call them?) had a couple eat their cake for over 15 years, if I remember correctly.
Had a nice weekend, although not as much relaxing time as we had hoped. We did finally order a new camera we have been looking at for a while, just in time for vacation! It should be delivered by Thursday - along with a 8GB memory card, my goodness those things are getting cheap! I still have to make appointments for next week at the wineries, I'm so behind scheduled (which is very unlike me). I'm hoping to have some time tonight to get organized and ready to make calls tomorrow.
So, my legs feel completely fine today, despite the nagging pains yesterday on the run. Legs actually felt fine soon after I was done. I'm really thinking it's just due to ramping up my run volume over the past few weeks - this last week was a good jump. I have 12 mile runs scheduled for the next few weeks, so I'm not feeling too rushed. I do want to focus on hydration and stretching this week, to make sure my legs stay healthy!
