Holy #$*% the knee still hurts and is very tender to move on. If I had known it was going to be this bad I would have taken the day off.

50 SU MS - soleus FOAM Traps are sore from swimming still on Tuesday. Went to Dr. Magale again today. She is great. The ART treatments really dig deep and break things up. Survivor night at Karen's. Went to Sports doc after school. So three months later and I still can't get an MRI. I hate Kaiser. Just give me the stupid image for mental relief more than anything so that I know I'm following the right course in rehab. I did get a cortisone shot in the knee with the hope that current rehab plus reduced inflammmtion will lead to a quicker recovery. Holy crapola did the shot hurt abuot two hours later when the novacaine wore off. Had to drink four beers to kinda numb the pain enough so I could fall asleep as the pain was a constant and worse than what I felt in the race. Ended up falling asleep at 8pm. So I need to find a new activity to do so I can workout. Takled to karen last night through the occasional pain grunts about getting a kayak and starting to kayak with her regularly. I know it would make her happy and it is an activity I should be able to do.

25 PU 50 SU MS FOAM Went to Chiro (dr. Magale) for first ART treatment. I must have a really high pain tolerance as she said most people complain about much less pressure being put on the joints. Considering what I put myself to finish Ralph's it was a piece of cake. Treatment consisted of several manipulations of the knee joint, spinal adjustments, and electrotherapy while having knee iced. Felt good. Dr. Magale is very knowledgable and seems great so far. Really excited about working with her for my recovery. Going to take another week or two off of the bike which makes me sad but I'll swim and concentrate on form. Not like I kick much anyhow. Went to gym and swam today 2x1000. 17:53 then 17:46 with 2min rest in between. Stretched and foamed at gym. Went home and started icing. NS FOAM ICE

50 SU MS FOAM ICE First excercise since race day. Was doing fine until mile 32 when right knee started to act up. My perceived erxertion was rather low despite the very high hear rate. The squirrels must have missed me cause they were slow in getting out of the way and I had two close calls on the ARBT today. Can't really post stretch due to pain so I'm just going to ice the knee. I think I figured out the symptoms that lead to ITBS in both knees now. Instead of rolling off my big toe it looks like my feet roll outward toward the small toe causeing a bad stretch on the outside of my knees. I drew some figures and highligthed painful areas to bring to the doctor if I can ever get an appointment.
