  • 5.24 kms
  • 06m 33s /KM

Worst run ever. Or for a while at least. Legs hurt, head hurt, blah. There was no way I was going to make it for a second lap of the tan.

Here's hoping Thursday's run is better...

Fingers crossed the rain stays away and I can get a run in this afternoon. Dodgy weather has kept me from commuting, but hopefully I can get on the bike Thurs & Fri (snow on them hills is expected tomorrow!!) Somewhere too I have to get in some transition training before Sunday's race.

November 12

Run
  • 40m
  • 6.40 kms
  • 06m 15s /KM

12:40am & 5:20am
2x (8x400m)

It's kinda odd running in the middle of the night, but rather peaceful too. I ran by myself for these shifts and as I ran along I got to check out some of the messages written for survivors and those that didn't make it. Had to concentrate to hold back the tears.

The 5.20am shift saw a bit of rain, but nothing too severe. At least it was still warm. Not too difficult to get up for this one considering I didn't get too much sleep after 1:20am. Why can't I do this regularly?!!

Sport

Walked the 1:00am shift

Had a couple of hours sleep after the 5:20am shift. I would have liked to stay for the final lap, but given Ez wanted to get home and I was getting a lift, it wasn't my call. The legs are pretty tight & tired (mainly from the faster than usual pace) and I think that this afternoon will be a complete write off. Awesome event and I can't wait to participate again!

November 11

Run
  • 40m
  • 6.40 kms
  • 06m 15s /KM

2x (8x 400m)
Track running, the spongy surface makes a nice change from concrete.

Ran with Ez, had a 20min break and then Ez ran with me. The first 20 mins was tough, probably shouldn't have had the Beez kneez, I finished the run with a stitch!

Swim
  • 30m
  • 1500.00 meters
  • 02m /100 meters

I didn't really focus on time, but I did make it to MSAC for a decent swim.

I'm tempted to log dancing. The dancefloor was hit. As I was sitting at breakfast I saw Daryl Braithwaithe http://www.darylbraithwaite.com.au/ and then the memories from last night came flooding back to me. I had danced to "The Horses" last night. It WAS all about the 80s & 90s. Pulled up well enough for a swim and started to come good come Relay for Life time. What an amazing event. Both Ez's parents are survivors of Cancer, I had heard a lot about her Dad and finally got to put a face to a name. To see so many carers and survivors was both saddening and at the same time uplifting. After a lap of honor by these people it was all go. There were quite a few of us so my first run wasn't until about 8.00pm. We had a roster and ran for 20mins at a time which worked reasonably well. Pretty much just sat around chatted, ate and drank when wasn't required to run. There were bands going until 11.00am and while this was the first year the relay was held it ran remarkably smoothly, but I hope it grows. Certainly more teams would have added to the atmosphere. Went to bed at about 11 to catch a bit of shut eye before my first graveyard shift.

Commute. I think I got every red light except the one I rolled through. I'm usually totally against this and cursed myself for doing it. Shame on me.

Passed a women on a bicycle wearing shorts, stockings and three inch heels. There'll be tears when she comes off her bike was the call from one of the other guys. Whose a$$ I managed to sit on for a little while. He was a much stronger rider than me, that's my justification.

As tempting as it is to paint the town red tonight, I'm going to try and opt for a quiet one. I have "The Inconvenient Truth" to watch on DVD at home. That should help keep me in.
OK IT'S ALL ABOUT THE DANCE FLOOR.

The plan is to get a decent swim in tomorrow morning and then it's all about Relay for Life from 4pm Saturday to 10am Sunday. I'm really looking forward to the experience in general and logging some running & stretching time. Been a bit slack on those fronts.
