So it was a little short of the 6.5 planned. I lost more time than expected, leaving work on time, yeah right! Didn't feel as good as I hoped, still a little tired in the legs and I got a stitch in my side for the first time in years (usually its in my shoulder blades). I just kept running and it finally went. Great night for it, the bay was flat, nice sunset, no wind!

There will be running today. Oh yes, there will be running. It's beautiful outside, according to Hal's taper I have a 6.5km run tonight. Too easy!!

Not sure if I'll do anything today. It was wet this morning, but it seems to have cleared now. Still cool outside. Temptation is to leave work as close to on time as possible in order to get on the bike perhaps or just walk. I feel as though I need to move to get the residual soreness out. If I warm up enough then I can have a good stretch.

Sport #1
  • Stretching
  • 10m

Walked in the morning and again in the afternoon.
Both times along the beach. In the morning I was able to raise my HR, not so much in the afternoon

I stretched after the second walk as I was still pretty sore from my run and massage.

I woke up still feeling tired, though not as sore as expected. I was tempted not to run at all. I got out there thinking I'd turn around after half an hour mainly because I thought I felt a few drops of rain, but my mindset improved and while I was running slower than last week I felt good enough to attempt 20km. It really started to hurt at 15km - my right hip flexor particularly. I was on target to beat last years 21km time, but I didn't have it in me this week to go the distance. I saw Jules & Erin again who gave me a big cheer. I hope to start riding with them soon!

One hour of the good pain. Donna released my scapulas and spent the rest of the time inflicting pain on my calves and hammies.

No run this morning, but I have a massage booked for this afternoon. Looking forward to it. I haven't been doing nearly enough stretching. My long run will be tomorrow morning. I'm thinking about doing 21-22km as the 'half' next weekend is actually 23km.

Working to a quasi deadline - triathlon related so it's not too bad. Could be real work related and I'd be in a worse mood! I know I'm lucky in terms of my job, but I am hating it right now. Anyway, no running for me today, time got away and I'm just not feeling up to it. Out for dinner with the girls tonight, hopefully that sees me less grumpy! Might run tomorrow morning, just a quick one and go long on Saturday - it's looking free of rain at this stage.

Finally yesterday I managed to eat within my personal nutritional levels, I've really fallen off the wagon here and do feel heavier. I'd say it's a combination of not logging my intake - particularly on weekends. Re-introducing alcohol, lower levels of activity & not adjusting my food intake accordingly and the onset of colder weather. It just makes me want to eat. I'm trying to get around this by drinking lots of herbal tea! Boredom at work isn't helping either. Tea again is my answer. Last night though I did have a brilliant nights sleep. Finally. Plenty to do with my own bed and no boy present! I feel much better. I did a resting HR test this morning and a RHR of 64 is about 8 beats higher than usual. I'm going to rest today and take the test again tomorrow.
