My masseur is the best. After last week I had next to no back pain. Sure I haven't really tested it out on the bike, but no pain while sitting - that's pretty good.
She worked a little on my back and a lot on my hip flexors/ITB.
I am taking this taper seriously for the 145km on the weekend. The weather forecast is looking pretty good. Yes, I think I will find it tough given the amount of training I have/nt done. But eh, just going to treat it like another long recreational ride that it is. I was underdone on nutrition in the last hour or two, so I must remember to keep eating.

Easy commute - no wind! Felt pretty good today.
Strength session.
Commute home. Legs reasonably fresh.
Ok so this week I swapped running groups. It wasn't nearly as hard as last week. We did slightly more strength but a whole lot less of the running caper, which was a bit disappointing. All too easy, except for some killer hamstring exercises. I might do a lap of the tan before the next session.

No race report per se... See last year for the good stuff, the stunning views don't change! The enthusiasm of the volunteers still fabulous.
I PB'ed the course by 4 mins, my bro by 25. All was going well until 100km (after our brief stop in Lorne) in when I ran into some incredible back pain on the undulating Great Ocean road back to Torquay.
I was conservative on the earlier Deans Marsh hill to try and minimise any oncoming back discomfort but unfortunately it was in vain.
I was faster than last year, but I certainly didn't feel quite as strong as I'd hoped (something to do with lack of training?). Nailed nutrition though! Even if the Ascend choc-mint bars did make me feel ill.
