Lets face it a whole lot of the time, this was me pushing my mountain bike rather than riding it. We started of relatively well, the course was a little beyond my level of expertise, but I figured it would get easier. It didn't, navigation was a touch off and we climbed and climbed, to the point where it started to rain, sleet and then snow.
I was pretty cold and we'd been riding for about 2 hours. I was prepared to head straight back to the village along an easy dirt path and drive the car down, but the others were keen to descend the track that we'd planned to take initially. They wouldn't let me go it alone and so I went with them. I had a mini tanty at this stage, I was cold, tired and shaky from lack of food, I couldn't tell if I had the brakes on such was the feeling in my hands. I popped a couple of cliff shots, walked my bike down until the terrain was manageable and started the descent. The boys promised us it was only 4km down.
As we descended into rain, I got colder and colder, wetter and wetter. I could hear my Garmin ticking over and we were well past 4kms where I was told we're about half way there. The river crossings didn't help things and at one point my friend was in tears because she was so cold.
This prompted Mr T to pedal as fast as he could home to get us some transport to save us riding an additional 4kms or so.
So while the terrain was quite beautiful, the weather and our lack of preparation/navigation/super warm and dry clothes made this a somewhat unpleasant experience, I can imagine how awesome it would be in 24C weather, rather than 4C and below!

Brrr. It was 4C at the top of Mt Buller for our fun run around the village and then up the summit.
I had a better run than 2 years ago on a longer course, but eh hills really showcase my unfitness! I also tripped running downhill and did a bit of a superman. No major damage, just a bit of skin removal from my hands.
A nice wake up call for Puffing Billy.

Yarra Bend Park run. Treated myself to somewhere nice, with undulations and slightly softer footing. Fitness wise 8km was ok, foot wise I could have pulled up a kilometre short, I was starting to feel some pain.
