Enjoying life one day at a time

I'm soooooo tired.... OMG. I slept horribly... no cramping issues, but my body feels like it was run over by a steam roller. My hips, my knees, my shoulders (who knew shoulders and arms get sore while running??), all around I'm tired.
I MAY get a swim on this afternoon... but don't count on it. I have sub-flooring and 2x4's coming at some point today. So, I'll be making a few trips up and down the basement stairs... yeah... just what my aching joints wanted to hear. ;)
I trust that everyone has a wonderful day. ... for a Monday. Rainy and cool here... perfect indoor relax day. :)
If any one is interested... here is the route for yesterday's 1/2 Marathon.... the full marathon was twice around this loop. Click on the elevation graph for a sense of the difficulty.
http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.asp?routeid=49960
For interest sake... the low points on the graph are the three times we crossed the Grand River. Each low point corresponds to a bridge on the route.... and of course the inclines after each one are the climbs back up to high ground. The 2nd one was particularly onerous.... from bridge to top of the hill in the town of Conestogo was 1.25 km... with a total elevation gain of 30 metres (about 100' gain in less than a mile) after 16km THAT hurt.... and the marathon runners had to do it AGAIN... OUCH!!!! ;)
EVENING UPDATE:
Knee pain is not lessened... maybe I over did the stairs today. Will have to see what it's like tomorrow... if no better, I'm calling PT and getting this fixed up.
Have a good night all. :)

Rest day today... 1/2 marathon tomorrow. This will be the defining test... if I can make it through this run without hurting myself then I'm good to go for the 1/2 Ironman in August... other wise, I'll abandon that dream and stick with Olympic's.
Tonight is a carb load feast at a new restaurant I've recently heard about.... check it out... looks like a fun place. (I used to work with the owner too... should be interesting)

200m w/u straight swim
1700m straight swim RPE 4 (33:00)
180m c/d 4x40+20
it was supposed to be a 2000m swim (alternate 1700) but I ran out of time. Got to pool late. No big deal, was a good solid swim. Only stopped once to check my lap count... and once to readjust my watch strap... those were all of 5 second stops and one was underwater. ;) Bilateral breathing pretty much entire time... and I felt strong and capable of continuing for another 30 minutes at that pace. I think my 100m times were 1:55 consistently, during the long swim. :)

Went for a little jog to test out the shoes. My knees still hurt... wtf... looks like it's going to be a long day on Sunday.
Max HR seems a little high... I was BARELY running... most of the time I was barely sweating.
Almost better.... I think I will have the energy to jog tonight. See how the day progresses.

My friends

Processing your request, please wait...
My wonderful coach/mentor/BFF has told me to take it easy on my legs from now on. She's given me the week off... so it's pool time for Bopper. I'll be calling my PT today to set up an appointment to check this knee problem out... shouldn't be so swollen two days later... she's an ultra-marathon runner too... so she'll know what to do. :)
Work is calling... back to the grind. :(
EVENING UPDATE:
I got in to see my PT today. She has determined that it's an early ITB issue... combined with bursitis (which I knew about). Basically, runners knee. She's had it before, so knows what she's talking about (helps having a long distance running PT). She didn't have time for the assessment today, but did give me a treatment with laser and ultra-sound. They feel better already. I have to ice and use the foam roller (OH JOY!!). She's going to have me all better in time for my first Tri... and I'll make sure of that. Thanks for all the kind words and concern, I truly appreciate EVERYONE on here. This is the greatest community. Thank you EVERYONE!!! :)
