Enjoying life one day at a time

August 3

Run
  • 43m 24s
  • 7.83 kms
  • 05m 32s /KM

Went out for a run... was to be an 1:30 run... but as is my penchant lately. I had to cut it short. I was developing a blister on my foot and didn't want to make it any worse. So I walked the rest of the way home. The time/distance posted is the actual run.

Sport
  • Walking
  • 25m

I think this is how long it took me to walk home from where I stopped running. Walking was 2.8 km.

I'm thinking the gods are telling me something.... I just wish they were a little more subtle. :(

Bike
  • 1h 36m
  • 50.00 kms
  • 31.25 KM/hr

Went for a good hard ride this morning.... up until I tried taking a corner to fast... I didn't think it was quite as sharp as it was. Ended up sliding on the road... yet again. Last 7 km were EEZZZ... because I broke a spoke... which I now have to go get fixed.
1:17 - 43 km
0:19 - 7 km
Probably get a new tire too... these tires I have are not good for fast cornering. :(

Yes... I wiped out on the bike... YET again.

The bike itself is ok... nothing seriously damaged. I broke a spoke... unfortunately the bike shop doesn't have any of those spokes on hand, so I have to wait until Thursday at the earliest... possibly Friday to get the wheel fixed.  NOT good.

As for me... scraped up my left forearm a little bit. Got a very nice momento on my right ankle and a good size bruise on my right hip. Right calf has a little bit of scratching, but nothing serious. My back feels a little tight, but that could just be from the hard ride up until the crash.

Oh well.... I'll just have to concentrate on the weaker of the three sports for the rest of this week. Long run planned for tomorrow... probably try and do a 1 hour run... or more if I'm feeling up to it. Then a few swims next week... nothing long though. It IS taper week. :)

Biked VERY slowly from work to friends house for supper. Met the family there, put bike in van when we went home. I don't consider this a workout, because I barely broke a sweat (wouldn't have sweated at all except it was HOT ;) ).

YUP... headset had to be replaced. Inside was rusted ... and they were loose bearings. They got the correct headset... and it is a sealed bearing. Hopefully, that will last longer... although I do sweat a LOT. ;)

For all you cyclists out there... here is an interesting scheme that merits some SERIOUS looks by traffic planners. According to statistics... only 1% of people commute to work on bicycles... but 40% wish they could. What could this do to increase those stats?

Fascinating! :)

Took our house guests home tonight... therefore no workout. I have my bike though, so I'll ride to work in the morning... and try to do a good workout ride. See what I can do.

Good night all. :)

We have guests staying for a few days.... she's trying to recouperate from a surgical procedure and we offered to look after her and her daughter for a couple days in order that she can REST. No training tonight.

Bike was finished at 6... to late for me to pick up tonight. I'll have to go after work tomorrow.

If there are any workouts today, they will happen after supper. Time for work. :(

I had PLANNED on running to the pool in New Hamburg (5 km away), swimming for 1/2 hour, then running home. However, the best laid plans of mice and men... I was about 10 min away from home when I realized I had forgotten my goggles. So, I decided to do my 5 km in town route... then drive to pool. On way home from pool, I decided that was enough for tonight. I need more sleep... and running so close to bedtime isn't a good idea.

Rest day.... so... I'm resting. :) Taking bike in for a check up. :(

Both the guys that looked at the bike at the LBS were concerned about that noise too... VERY concerned (as am I). They will take apart the headset... and hopefully it just needs to be reseated and greased... but most likely replaced. >>>sigh<<< more money :(

Finally uploaded some pics for the tris.....
