Enjoying life one day at a time

We'll call it walking. It wasn't all that taxing... lots of loose rock and boulders and such to walk over/through/around... but it's not totally wild. This IS the middle of civilization after all. This is hiking in the gorge in Elora. Lovely day with my lovely wife and our friend who is going through a separation/divorce. Glad we could give her a distraction and some much needed time away.
Not sure what I'll do today... still not up to doing any riding. Every day it gets a little better, but it's still pretty raw. We have a friend coming over this afternoon... and we are hoping to go hiking at the Elora Gorge... but I may have to abandon that and just sit enjoying the scenery while the ladies do the walking.

Forgot to start the HRM until 1 km into the run. I figure it was 6 min. I ran the 9km in 52 min. The last 1 km very slowly for a cool down. I think it was 7 or 8 min. Negative split the middle 8k. Good morning... not sunny but not cold either. +10 with a 15 km/h NW wind.
POst run yoga stretching.
The yoga last night makes me stiff... in a good way... I likey... I must continue this.
I had a better sleep last night... not so painful. I will attempt a run this morning... crossing my fingers that I don't irritate it any more.

I did the relaxation set from the BT Video. Yoga Warrior for Triathletes. Then Sunrise Salutation with Caron Shepley and the Lower Body work from her DVD... Power Yoga for Triathletes. Pretty good stuff.... I think I should have been doing this all winter. I learned that I'm actually pretty bendy... even with a burning crotch. ;) LOL
Nope... not happening today either... the nicest day of the year and I'm stuck riding in a car, when I should be commuting on my bike. This SUX... but better to clear it up for good rather then letting it get worse. Makes it rather difficult to sleep whenever you move you feel like somebody took a blow torch to your groin... just sayin'... the "sleep" was hours in bed... wasn't hours sleeping. ![]()
For inquiring minds... it feels like I'm being branded whenever I take a step... worse when I'm riding. This is what happens when a skin irritation gets infected. So... get those little things looked at immediately.. don't let them get worse.

Beautiful sunrise. Cool clouds tinged with gold, orange, and pink. Somedays I do wish I had a camera strapped to my handle bars. Cool, but not too uncomfortable... +4*C, 9km/h NE wind. This of course meant headwind for 2/3 of the ride, and NE winds tend to feel much colder. Lucky me though, it was a LOT lighter wind then they were predicting.
I tried to spin steady and keep the pace even. Not a hard ride.
That was a fun commute home. I got a late start out of work and needed to push hard to get home. The natives were hungry and I needed to feed them.
I put it in big gears and spun at 90+... trying to keep it there as long as I could on all hills. That was a good ride. Helped to have a nice little tail wind too. :)
I'm not sure what I have to do to increase the speed... but it seems that as I get to the top of the longer hills, my legs and lungs give out. I'm trying to learn how to pace better... but I think I need to work on LT levels.
Having a little health issue with chaffing in a rather sensitive area... need to figure this one out soon. Not very pleasant. ![]()
Accountant forgot to write us down in his planner and he completely forgot. We are now scheduled for Friday evening. What a fun thing to do on a Friday night. :o

Good morning everyone. Another day has dawned rather cool and depressing. I heard the wind howling outside and just didn't feel like braving it today. So, I will go for a swim tonight (hopefully... kids schedule permitting).
Last night I introduced a friend of mine to the BT world. She's going to use the site for tracking her nutrition and training. She's really trying to lose some weight and tone up. Please welcome her to the site... and if you have any advice, feel free to pass it on.
Her name is Lauren and she lives in Halifax, NS.

If any one has information pertaining to eating properly and training while working night shift, feel free to pass it along to her. She'll appreciate ALL the help she can get.
Thanks folks.

I needed to do a run... I have a 10k race in a couple weeks and I want to be in great shape for that. So I did more then my plan suggested. This was a treadmill run because I don't want to be sick either... it's +4*C, raining, and a 45km/h wind... just not a very healthy weather to run in.
I did 10 min slow warm up first 5 min @ 5mph, second 5 min @ 5.5mph. The next 40 min was run at 6-6.5 mph. Mostly 6.5 mph. The last 1 min of I ran at 8.0mph. The last ten minutes was at 5-5.5 mph again. It was a good hard run... very sweaty.
