Enjoying life one day at a time

Lovely morning ride with a significant tailwind... I could tell because I was cruising along over 30 km/h in small gears and not even working that hard. :o One incline that I normally have to work to maintain 30 km/h, I was ascending at 40km/h... was very cool!! The payback will be tonight going home INTO that wind, except it will be stronger.
Cold this morning though... so much for late spring weather... it's more like early spring. Seems we got the seasons mirrored... coming in hot and going out cold. Bizarre weather.

Evening commute ... into the wind... eeeep! :o
O-M-G... that was an ugly ride. I was under dressed, as I thought it was warmer, but the wind was extra bitter tonight and in my face all the way home. Made for a rather uncomfortable time, but I perservered.... I could have stopped at any point and put on an extra layer, but figured that would have just made me later... already left work 15 minutes later then I wanted to (so much work :( ). So I just cranked up the effort level and warmed up that way.
Kept the intensity level pretty steady, trying to keep the cadence around 85-90. I took a zig-zag route home... to minimize the length of each northern direction leg. I could have taken one more zig, but decided to take it over the sandhill into town... just for the "fun" of it. Cycling INTO the wind going up the overpass, then immediately after up another nasty ascent, really gets the legs burning. Good times!

Short commute... dropped vehicle #1 at the dealership to have oil changed. Bike from there to work... it's only a short one, but I'm counting it.
No HR info.
Will be picking car at lunch, then tonight after work I have another wart treatment... if I didn't like my Dr so much, I'm not sure what I'd say to her during these treatments. OUCH!!!!! ![]()
well that didn't go as planned... got a call from the garage, they HIGHLY recommended new tires, and 4 wheel alignment, also loose stabilizer on front needed replacing. All it was going in for was an oil change. Went from under $50... to over $1000 in a hurry. :(
So much for the profit sharing cheque that I received this week (SURPRISE!)... I was planning on using that money to take Sweetums away for a couple days over our Anniversary. Doesn't look like that's going to happen now though. :(

Cool morning commute but it was calm, much better then the last week of howling winds.
Easy riding with no really hard efforts. Spinning in easy gears.
HRM didn't register heart rate, so info is a guess.

Left work late... and I had to stop at pharmacy to p/u some meds... so the ride took longer. Had a lot of traffic issues to deal with too. It is really frightening to know that these people got their licenses... somehow.
Didn't push hard, just rode easy gears as it was a good headwind. Hills seem to be getting a little easier, but still not as easy as they felt last year. Oh well, hill work here I come.
Actual time was 1:02... riding time was 48:55. I had to wait for 10 minutes in the pharmacy, which cooled me down, and the last part of the ride was uncomfortable because of that.

Another run around the short block... kept the pace pretty steady, but didn't allow myself any walking. A couple times I felt like I should, but kept going. I think those times, I was going up slight inclines... and into wind... so it "hurt" a little more. Have to keep this up for a few weeks, get my legs stronger... and lose the excess baggage. Our friends last night, said that I'm looking thinner again... and they have seen me a couple times since the accident... so I think the desired affect is taking effect and I'm losing the weight.

Took #2 out for a drive in Rita... the standard transmission car---EEEEP!!! It is a learning process, but he did well enough, considering the car. After the driving we went for a swim... I did my normal workout lately, he did his. We need to get him out more regularly to build up his stamina in the water.

My back was feeling a little tight today after dancing last night, but nothing that a little stretching wouldn't help. I need to swim more to activate those muscles in my back that have become quite weak. I think a couple weeks of doing this workout, then I will start to build towards longer swims again.
I'll put an hour down... probably all we danced, but we were standing around and chatting with friends all night... and that is what hurt the most. Had to find a couch to sit in after 3 hours... fortunately, friends of ours took pity on us and joined us and we had a good talk. Really wished we lived closer together, but we stay in touch with them thru electronic mediums... thank goodness for internet and text messaging. :)
Sweetums and I went out dancing last night... had a good time. Would have danced more, but her body is betraying her (pain in hips and knees), so she wasn't up to much more. It was a good thing though, as my back was pretty stiff this morning. It felt like I had done a workout and was stiff the next day. After being up a few minutes it loosened up, so I didn't injury anything, just worked muscles that haven't been used much lately.

Another short block run... this time it was more like a run. Full jog, no easing up at all. Felt pretty good until the long straight stretch, going up (it's about a 10m climb over 1.5km). This isn't hard, just harder. ;)
Not enough time today for anything longer, so figured this is what needed to be done. :)

Today is a lot of driving... yet again.
p/u my dad's van (and lend him our Ronnie) so we can make a run to the dump today, and then drive to T.O. tomorrow to move #1 out of his room.... without him. He is in Ann Arbor at a wedding this weekend and we have to move his stuff out without him. How did he arrange that???? ;)
