smokin' hot morning commute... feels like mid-summer and not spring (not that I mind just sayin').

Didn't push too hard, just kept the pace steady. Had a pretty nice tailwind today too. It's going to suck going home, but that's 10 hours from now. Decided to stay in big gear for the entire ride, powering over the hills to work on my leg strength/stamina. Makes the bigger hill tough, (HR hit my MAX there) but I can usually spin up all the other hills without issue. Starting to feel more like my old self on the bike--finally! :)

Tough ride home... headwind was relentless and constant. I tried to keep the effort fairly easy, but steady. Used small ring for most of the ride... and kept the cadence up all the way up the hills as best I could. The sandhill was the last straw and I had to back way off, I couldn't do it any more... just rode up the hill without worrying about cadence.

Good sweaty ride. :)

Interesting encounter with vehicles tonight... no a positive note for a change. Most... in fact almost all vehicles passed safely and cautiously... the only standout, was the tool who passed me on the INSIDE going around a round-about. I guess he doesn't know traffic law... it's ILLEGAL to pass someone in a round-about.... even worse if it's a single lane round-about. Other then that... it was a refreshing ride of polite drivers.

I had one driver come up behind me at one of the 3 traffic lights I go thru in town... I had seen him coming, and moved my bike to the middle of the lane (I was first in line) so he wasn't tempted to pull in beside me. On the green I went thru the intersection and up the hill staying 3' from the sewer grates (which puts you 4.5' from the curb) where I am supposed to ride. I didn't weave in and out and maintained a straight line... he honked his horn at me, but I stayed where I was. He had to wait for 15 seconds at the most until the traffic in the middle lane was clear so he could pass me. However, he didn't go flying by or cut back in front of me... he just drove normally. The beep was to let me know he was there... but as I wasn't doing anything wrong .... I am NOT going to ride next to the curb so he can SQUEEZE me off the road. I'm there and you better get used to it... most drivers understood that today. Maybe the message is getting thru... I can only hope.

OMCA TT (Ontario Master's Cycling Association - Time Trial)

I have decided to join this group, they hold races throughout the summer (every other week). This will give me goals for riding through the summer and will make me ready for Tour For Kids in August.

Today was to be a 37 km TT, but the race had to be shortened as the Woodstock Triathlon course was going to be crossing our course and the police were closing the road to traffic. This was absolutely fine by me though as I'm not ready for a 37 km TT effort, 20 was plenty.

I went out hard from the start, and reached 40 km/h on the first section when I smartened up. There was no way I was keeping that up for the entire distance. I settled into a doable effort and just kept pedalling. I gained on my rabbit (1:00 start intervals), steadily gaining on him. The hills were hard and kept getting harder on my legs... then we turned around and we had to deal with the wind as well. I caught the rabbit after 15 km, but it was on a hill into the wind, after which I was trashed and he re-passed me, never to be caught again. I just couldn't push any longer. I stayed with him though, and finished only 10 seconds behind him... so I gained 50 seconds on him. During the race, I had 2 other riders pass me... one of them, I know from the Velodrome and he was riding his single speed TT bike... an amazingly strong rider. Other then that, I was able to keep up the pace through the end of the race, felt like I was fading near the end though... just nothing left to push thru to the end. Stamina needs work... but I feel good on how I did.

Morning commute... taking it pretty easy, but still moving well. Beautiful morning for a ride... warm, sunrise, and quiet.

Was taking it easy, until I saw another rider... then I just "HAD" to pass him. LOL Of course this was on a grade, which I powered up at 30 km/h and caught him before the top. Then I just kept up the speed until I got to work.

Headwinds...all the way home. So I didn't push it, just kept the effort steady. HR shows it and my legs thank me. Still I was a sweaty mess when I got home due to the heat...which felt good. :-)

Beautiful morning... gorgeous sunrise, perfect temps... too bad I have to work.

Took my time this morning, small ring and easy spinning was the way to go... legs need a little rest. As you can see from the AVG HR... I took it pretty freakin' easy. :O

Wart treatment again today... sigh... wish these things would just go away. :(

Rode from work to Dr's office. Crazy traffic... even if I would stop behind other vehicles, others would pull up beside me. I guess they thought I would be going to slow or something... but I was staying with traffic and had to wait at every traffic light that they did.... was absolutely ridiculous.

Morning commute... pretty good ride except for the crazy East wind. I knew something wasn't right but it wasn't until I looked at the weather that I understood... the wind was in my face. Not that it was difficult, it just made the air seem... heavy... like moving thru molasses. You can do it, but it takes you more energy and longer. Gave it more effort then I would normally, because of the shortened ride last night. Did pretty good and tried keeping the cadence above 85 at all times. Made for a sweaty ride, but the legs aren't as weak as they were and don't tire out as fast. Feeling good! :)

Glorious tailwind, but my legs are tired. So I went hard, but not as hard as I could have, just no pop left in the legs. Still felt pretty good...and it is warm... I like warm!! :-)
