Forgot my garmin.  Almost turned around to go back and get it but decided I could use a run not tied to my numbers.  Felt great out there.  Today ran 3/4, walked 1/4.  Figured that would be kind of close to walking water stops in the race.  Beautiful cool morning and I felt great! :)

Thinking about transitioning into off-season this morning.  Only one more week and my season will be over.  I'm ready for a break.  I want to spend a couple of weeks doing whatever strikes my fancy and if that's nothing, then that's what I'll do.  I definitely want to do things that are different from the usual swim-bike-run.  Maybe some aerobics classes at the Y or hiking in the woods.  They've started a new progam called Hour of Power, which is interval and strength training in the water.  Sounds tough, but interesting. Winter is all about strength and nutrition.  Think I'm going to go back on the Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle Program before starting back on my training for next season.  It includes daily low-intesity cardio, but focuses on 5 days of lifting and solid clean-eating nutrition.   It's incredibly difficult to focus on eating well when the training volume is high and you are constantly hungry.  Or maybe I'll spring for a personal trainer? It would be nice to know that I'm performing the strength exercises properly. Need to figure out when to start the winter maintenance plan.  My 20 week HIM plan is supposed to start April 6th, but that will definitely NOT be happening with tax season, so I'll have to adjust the first two weeks of the program. Anyway, lots going through my little pea-brain..... :)

I DO NOT have to go to Louisville tomorrow.  I'll be available via telephone and hopefully the arresting officer has everything needed for the prosecutor.  Makes sense to me.  I have zero to offer the case except it was my stuff that was stolen.  Tomorrow is just a fact-finding meeting, not trial, so there is a possibility that I'll still have to go down.  That's okay.  Maybe I'll take my bike with me. :)

All walking this morning - kinda boring - more fun to run.

Walk and pilates on the agenda today.  I added a walk day in since I know I'm going to do a little walking in the 1/2 marathon next week.  Wanted to get my legs and hips in synche so they remember how to move quickly.  I still haven't decided what my strategy is for the 1/2 yet, but I want to get to the finish as quickly and happily as possible.  Will probably stick with the original plan to walk the hills and aid stations and run the rest.

Nutrition has been good this week.  Nice to string a couple of decent back to back days together for a change. :)  Deadline day coming up on Monday.  Guess I'd better get some work done in the office.  Hate it when work cuts into BT time. :(

AAAAAhhhhhhhhhhhhh. :)

Legs felt good this morning.  My first mile was really slow (even for me ;) ), so I tried an experiment of running 1/4mile/walking 1/4 mile.  Negative splits. Go figure.

Need to get my run in early this morning since I have a massage scheduled for later. :)

Found a road very close to me that is very hilly.  Might even simulate KY conditions.  Well, maybe not, but its a road that is going on my riding route.  Not terribly long, I'm guessing 3-5 miles, but geeze does it have some huge rollers.  I can use one of my normal routes to get to it and work it in so on the way back I wind over to the bike path with a downward finish to recover. :)

Speaking of KY,  I may have to go back to Louisville on Friday.  When I was at the Ironman, my bag was stolen from the volunteer area.  The police recovered my bag and all the contents and I got everything back, but I received a subpoena to appear at the guy's hearing.  You know, if it would make a difference, I've got no problem making the trip back to Louisville, but I think I'll be wasting my time, and I DO have a problem with that.  I can't identify the guy.  I only saw him in the dark by the police car at 1am when I was already numb from the day. I have no material facts that can assist with the case other than the fact it was my stuff that was stolen.  If I'm not there, the guy walks?  How can that be?  I figure I'll make the trip and the guy will continue the case until I have to go home.  I want to do the right thing so maybe this guy will think twice before he steals something else, but do I have to stay in Louisville indefinitely to put this guy in jail?   I'm in contact with the prosecutor's office, so we'll see what happens.  It seems to me that the officer that caught the guy would be a much better witness than I would......

September 8

Started a race report, but it sounds way more whiny than I'd like, so I stopped.  Lets just say that my plan yesterday was to simulate race conditions.  Didn't go quite like I envisioned, but I probably didn't have very realistic expectations for my first century.  Thought I'd be able to ride pretty much continually with brief stops to pee, stretch, and refill bottles, but ended up taking long breaks.  The last 30 miles of the ride into the wind were  so miserable, I couldn't even think about doing the entire 30 miles, so I concentrated on 10 miles at a time.  Go ten miles.  Stop to stretch.  At one point, discussed the fact that if a thunderstorm came up and we were struck by lightening, we'd at least get SAG support. ;) Was VERY happily surprised at a rest stop at mile 89.  It was like a ray of sunshine. I'm happy I got through the distance and feel pretty good today.  Just a little stiff with a couple of minor saddle sores.  Jenneunc made a comment in her blog last week about how people here make things look so easy.  I thought about that several times yesterday.  You guys really do make this stuff look easy and your talent amazes me.  Every time I do a new distance, my first thought is that it was harder than I thought it would be and this distance was no different.  Overall, I'm happy with my performance.  I did the best I could with what I had to work with and I can't ask for more out of myself.  Jungle Jenn kept me going several times by singing like a maniac and generally making me laugh and keeping spirits light.  The best contribution I made to the final 30 miles was my repeated comment of "f*cking wind."  I wasn't the best company, especially in those last miles, but I had a great time and will definitely do it again.  It's a sickness, I tell you. ;)

Thinking about doing a 1/2 century next weekend.

A couple of pics from yesterday.  Not the best, but all I've got.....

Survived my first century.  WOOHOO!  I'm whopped.  First 55 miles were fantastic even in the rain that greeted us right when we got started.  Then the miles started ticking by slower and slower and that daggonned wind got crazy.  Major kudos to Jungle Jenn who hung with me the entired day - EVEN when I dropped to 10 mph in the headwind.  Glad my first was flat because towards the end, those overpasses felt like friggin' mountains. ;)  I will do a report tomorrow.  I mean, you only have your first once. :)

Sitting in the parking lot at the bike start.  Ain't wifi great?! :)  Meeting Jungle Jenn for Chris Cakes then heading out on the ride.  Probably won't be riding long together since she's a little faster than I and I want to be sure not to go out too hard too early.  Perfect weather.  Sun is supposed to appear and no wind. :)  Jenn was hoping for wind to simulate Florida a little better, but I'll be happy with the calm conditions.

More when I return....

Good luck to BTers in Madison today - also good luck to IMKY volunteer director, David Buckner who is doing IMMOO today.  Hope you have perfect conditions out there!

Gonna have to do.

Greatly shortened run.  Not too bad, just didn't have the energy.  Watching the game, then heading out to be in place for my century ride tomorrow.  Going to try and pace myself well to make it through the entire 100 comfortably.  I'm excited. My first century ride! :)

Trying to decide what to do this morning.  Supposed to run 9 miles but I'm feeling pretty crappy. Don't want to blow it off since I only have 2 more long runs before my 1/2 mary.  Maybe once I get out there and moving, I'll feel better, if not, I can always cut it short.  I know if I don't get out the door, I'm not going to feel better, so I may as well give it a shot.

Have a little bit of a cold this morning.  Blowing off my swim and going shopping with my mom.  :)
