Building a lean & fit me - one bite at a time

On the bike path. By the time I got around to doing this, I didn't feel good. I seem to have a certain window during the day to do things. Need to start using that window better.
PT went really well. My arm is being supported through everything right now and even though some of the stuff scared me, it actually felt pretty good. PT lady was very good at explaining everything to me and showed Fred how to do all the exercises. Should be minimal pain - at least for the next couple of weeks.
Start PT today. I'm both excited and nernous to begin the process. Yesterday, Fred's eye surgeon lectured me on the importance of doing pt/stretching regularly. I'm taking Fred with me. Am hoping that they'll show both of us what to do. I AM walking today. No excuses!!

Didn't do so well on the drug front yesterday. Took me nearly all day to recover from going too low on the pain meds early on. Totally different strategy today. Will take the stronger time release pills and back off the "filler" pills.

Recumbent - very ackward.
Held my arm close to the body. Was extremely cautious. Actually didn't feel bad.
Able to do a little more today. This is my first time typing with my right hand. Had to put a pillow in my chair to lift me up so my arm could rest on my desk and I still am having trouble with the top line of the keyboard - mostly y's and p's. Getting pretty good mousing with my left hand. Had to stop typing though. Amazing how much shoulder goes into it! Got on the treadmill for a short walk. This actually felt better than the recumbent. Was able to walk pretty steady holding my arm up close to my body.
Feeling good today. Started the day with a shower. First time since I've been home that I washed my hair. Can't even express how good it felt! The elbow range of motion stuff yesterday hurt like hell, so we backed off a bit this morning. Going to start backing down on the drugs and up the activity a bit. Going to try the recumbent a bit and might even try something very slow on the treadmill. Certainly won't be afraid to pull the plug if it feels bad.

Tied my own shoes! LOL!
Broke this in two sections. First one, I wore the sling and pumped the left arm, which gave me too much shoulder action. Second half, I took the sling off and held the arm - no arm action at all made it more comfortable. Felt like a real workout! :)
Feeling much better this morning. Going to stick to a liquid diet today to see if I can't get my gi system back in balance.
Two of the steri-strips (little pieces of tape) over my surgery sites came off. Other than feeling a little bump, you can't even see that anything was done. Amazing. Tried to sleep in bed last night for the first time. Had a bunch of pillows to prop me up and support my arm, but I couldn't get comfortable, so I ended up back in my same ole chair. Hopefully it won't be long before I can sleep normally.
Going to try and get back into somewhat of a routine today. The phone is starting to ring and I really don't want to get too far behind. Routine also includes regular bouts of exercise. I'm getting entirely too comfortable in front of the television. I'd really like to be able to walk the 7.5 mile winter run next month, and even though its a tentative event for me, I want to start moving in that direction.
Thanks to everyone who has been hanging in here during my excessively whiney bouts. You guys mean so much to me and are an amazing source of motivation and inspiration every day. I appreciate that you haven't given up on me.
