Think PT kicked the crap out of me today, because I was wiped out as soon as I started pedalling.

Solid PT session this morning.  Even got to add 2 lb dumbbell curls.  It was so exciting!  Yep, easily amused over here. lol!  She wants me to work up to an hour.  I was wiped out after 30 minutes today. The sun made an appearance this morning.  Its amazing what it can do to brighten a nasty mood!

Happy Friday!  So glad its here.  I'm weary this week and I don't feel like I got squat accomplished.  It was a good week diet wise and I'm feeling great about the results, so I'll hold onto that for a positive start to the day.   I have PT this morning.  Tuesday was the six week point from surgery, so I'm officially in active PT.  The shoulder seems to be progressing quickly.  I can do much more than I expected to be able to do. Pain level has been higher since I started active PT.  Need to ask this morning if I'm pushing too hard or if this is normal.

Feet are pretty sore this morning.  Think I'll keep the shoes over the weekend,  try them with some pads that the salesperson told me to get, and see how they do.  They are wider, so my bunioned foot isn't right on top of the seam, but I felt hotspots in other areas, so I'm not sure they're going to work out.  Want to give them a fair chance though.  I bought four new pair of socks yesterday as well.  Love my balegas.

Jury is still out on the new shoes, but a good session regardless

Busy day planned. Dentist this morning, eye doc this afternoon.  I loaded up my three current pair of running shoes and I'm taking them along with my chewed up feet to the Running Shoe Store.  I was a little surprise to find that my newest pair of shoes were purchased on 5/3/09 when I was at the Flying Pig Marathon with StartingToTri.  The three pair of shoes have a combined mileage of 925 miles.  Had no idea they were so old/worn.

Day 4 on the no sugar/crap challenge.  Very happy with where this challenge is taking me mentally. I'm actually still getting plenty of sugar, but it is all from natural sources, mostly fruits and veggies, so I'm okay with it.  The no sugar challenge was a great way to get me to stop eating the candy/cookies/bread that became a large part of my diet.  I feel the shift from focusing on how much sugar I'm taking in to the quality of the food that I'm eating overall and that's what I wanted to achieve.

Fun walk out on the bike path with Fred. I like it when he goes out with me and since it doesn't matter how fast I go, we can just enjoy being out together rather than my obsessing over pace. Will get another mile on the treadmill later.

Had a followup on the throat ct this morning.  Even though it came back normal, the doctor did find that I have a bone that isn't symetrical and could be pushing on the cartoid arterey when I exert myself.  Its a long-shot, but at least he's looking for answers.  He is sending me to another ENT that has more throat experience and has been interested in patients who have been diagnosed with GERD but show some not-typical symptoms.  I'm looking forward to what he has to say.  We also discussed surgery to shave off the bone.  I'd be all for it if we were sure it would fix the problem, but he doesn't know if it will or won't.  Sounds like too much of a long-shot to me.

The ct also didn't show anything abnormal in my jaw - its been hurting pretty good for the past couple of weeks.  I'm going to have it checked out at the dentist just to make sure there isn't a bad tooth causing the pain.  It feels more in the joint than a tooth.

Day 3 on the no sugar challenge.  Definitely getting easier.  Also started a challenge with BikerGerb for weight loss.  Challenge runs until April 10th and the loser has to contribute $20 to the winner's charity of choice.  My goal is to drop 20 lbs in this time period and win or lose the challenge, I'll be a winner. (but dont tell Steve!) lol

Going to try and get my walk in outside this afternoon.  I supposed its that time of year when I need to suck it up and embrace the treadmill, but I'm really not loving it right now.

Day one on the no sugar challenge went well.  The only regret I had was putting raisins on my oatmeal.  Should have had blueberries, but raisins just sounded better.  The challenge did exactly what I hoped it would - got my mind going in a direction other than eating crap.  The first few days are the hardest, but I'm looking forward to getting myself back in a healthy eating place.

Foot was so sore yesterday, it was painful just to put a shoe on.  I soaked it last night and found that the blister still had quite a bit of fluid.  I drained it and it feels much better today.  I'm going to give the treadmill a try later, but if the foot is still hurting, I'll switch over to the bike.  I have a really cheap pair of shoes for the treadmill.  I figured since it was a soft surface, it didn't really matter.  I'm going to try one of my better pairs of shoes today and see if it makes a difference.  When the foot is in a little better shape, I'll head to a shoe store and replace my old shoes.

Conversation over the logo went really well.  I contacted a local artist, who is a really nice guy and has young boys who are involved with boy scouts. He sounds really excited to help me.  He liked my initial concepts and is going to put some sketches together for me.  I'm VERY excited to see what he comes up with!

Happy Monday!  I joined a two week no sugar challenge that starts today.  Pretty excited to start this since I've been unsuccessful in the recent past getting the crap out of my life.  Going to go through the house and get rid of anything not consistent with my new plan.  First step?  The starburst jellybeans in my desk drawer are in the trash.

Had a great time at the Winter Run yesterday.  JungleJenn and Chrisrunzs26 came up from Portsmouth and ran.  Glad they got to see one of my favorite training routes.  Its so pretty out there!  I walked on the treadmill before I went out mostlly so I wouldn't be tempted to do the race.  Funny though, once I got there, I really wanted to do it.  In all honesty, if I didn't have a blister that was incredibly painful, I probably would have.  Looking back now, I know I made the right choice sitting it out, but the decision wasn't so easy to make at the time.  Speaking of blisters, I've got to find a good shoe store where I can talk to someone about distance training and having the proper shoes.  I'm pretty sure my shoes are the culprit.  I get blisters on the inside part of both bunions like I'm not getting the proper support for pronation.  I need to get this problem resolved.  My feet hurt so bad that they woke me up last night.

Things are moving along with the WAO.  My s-daughter and her boyfriend have taken the website and logo and ran with them.  Got my first draft of the logo back yesterday and I hate it.  Its not at all what I had in mind and now I need to figure out how to tell them without hurting feelings.  The situation really makes me wish I hadn't asked for help.  We are 3 very strong personalities and we're going to clash.  I started out making concessions with the first decision, the website name, but their arguments made sense to me.  They are trying to put the focus on the walk and not the cause and I disagree with this approach.  The walk wouldn't be happening without raising money for camp.  Sigh.  I'm going to think about things long and hard before I send a response back.

Probably went too hard, but I was feeling good, so I pushed it a bit. :) Watched Kona 2004 for the first time. Good stuff!

Busy morning getting Fred ready to go over and work the Winter Run.  After I get him on his way, I'll hop on the treadmill and get a few miles in.  Roni sent me Kona 2004, and I can't wait to watch it!   After treadmill, I'll head over to the race site to cheer on friends and act as gofer if Fred needs anything.  Really looking forward to seeing Jenn, Chris, and Kathy!  Going to be a fun day, even if I'm not walking.

I'm very interested to see how Lance Armstrong places in Panama 70.3 today.  Tight race  going on!

Snowy, cold, and windy today.  Good day to hole up in the house.  Got a decent walk in this morning.  Goal for the rest of the day is to focus on good nutrition.  No crap today. Period.  Time to quit messing around.  I know what to do.

Not doing the Winter Run tomorrow.  Too many unfavorable things going on.  I'll probably go over and cheer on some friends and keep Fred company.  He's communication control for the race.  Its fun to watch him work. :)
