Building a lean & fit me - one bite at a time

Went to a very cool ceremony for the Ohio & Erie Canal Lock #9 dedicaton this morning. Fred helped build the gates, which made it more special. Lots of fun and people.
Taking a short walk in some new shoes that I bought yesterday. Reebok Realflex Optimal. Not running shoes, but very flexible, comfy, and flashy!

Feet are feeling good, even after the marathon shopping session yesterday. Still going to be careful with them though.
This afternoon, I have PT, a massage, then a drink to catch up with my massage lady, who I haven't seen since I had my shoulder done back in January. Also need to bake a pineapple upside down cake for a friend's birthday tomorrow. One of those days......

Short ride just to get out. Very proud of myself. When I came to the fork in the road to take a longer, hilly road or turn to make it short and easy, I listened to my body. Good call, I'd say. The throat stuff has been bothersome this week. Foot feels fine.

Gyno and dentist today. Jealous? ![]()
Going to take it easy on my feet for a couple of days. They started hurting in SF walking the steep downhills and are still bothering me. Hurts where the toes meet the foot - is that the ball? Mostly my left foot, but a bit on the right as well. Its not debilitating, but noticeable enough to be worrysome. I have an appointment next week with the orthotics guys, so I think just to be safe, I'll keep my mileage down this week and let them rest up.
Decent day on nutrition yesterday. Could have been cleaner, but calories were good. Fred brought home turtle brownies from a meeting last night, so I may have to work one of those into my lunch calories today. ![]()
Signed up for 3 local 5Ks yesterday. I have fun walking them and it will be good exposure for WAO.

Throat hurt on the walk, but not the bike.
Windy!
I signed up for another 5K yesterday and found 2 more that I'll probably do. Did great on nutrition yesterday and actually did some strength training. Felt great, even if I was using baby weights.

Resting today. Feet are swollen and sore. Had a heck of a time hobbling down the stairs this morning. Should be a fairly normal week here. Going to get serious about nutrition and training starting RIGHT NOW! Had a weekend filled with eating crap that didn't even taste good. I'm going to feel so much better when I get back in a good eating/training groove.

Didn't quite hit my sub 4 hour goal, but I'm happy with the race. No regrets. Felt really rough the first mile going uphill, so I took it easy. Yep, I've finally got it through my head that the destination is the important factor, NOT how fast I get there. ;) We kept a good pace going and really the only place that screwed us up reaching the goal was that we took a long bathroom stop. I'm happy with the 18:15 pace, and if the course wasn't a bit long, I would have made it in under 4 hours. Now for a bath, nap, then celebratory dinner tonight.
I know it doesn't matter, but I'm anal. I need a place to list my mile by mile pace.

Not much going on this weekend. Have a couple of projects I want to get into. I made a birthday pineapple upside down cake for the owner of the breakfast restaurant we go to. I'll trade it for some blueberry pecan pancakes later this morning. Need to start putting some May goals together. I need something to get my butt back on track. Have not done great with nutrition this week. Didn't even track the last couple of days. That's always a sure sign that the crap is in charge again. I need to come up with something exciting for May that gets me fired up.
