Pretty strange to do some real swim training and it did wear me out. Kickboard, buoy, flip turns, balance. Wow, am I out of practice!

So, its 78 degees, and I'm looking for a sweater.  Enough with the rain already!  I need to carefully bake myself in the sun!!!

Raining this morning.  Not unpleasant and it's good that it forces me to take it easy and relax a little more than I normally do here.  Lots of monkeys and birds always make for good amusement.

Been getting in the pool a bit.  First real swimming since I had my shoulder done.  It feels better than I expected it to.  Of course, I'm only swimming about 50 feet at a time. LOL!

Down and around the beach and back up. Beautiful morning!

Finally got connected to the internet.  Nothing moves quickly here.  My friend and I walked down to the beach this morning.  The hill/mountain that the house is on is quite steep and around 550 feet & 3/4 mile from  the beach.  When we were headed down the road this morning, we passed three guys on bikes.  I can't imagine riding on this steep dirt road.  Very impressive.

We're starting to settle into a routine.  Good walk/workout in the morning followed by bird/monkey watching, and afternoon swim, cerveza and black beans. Life is good.

After much anticipation......

           WE'RE OFF!!!! :)

June 10

Tired this morning.  May have overdone things just a bit yesterday. (but it was fun!)  Have lots to do today to get ready for vacation, so I decided to skip the walk this morning.   I think my body will appreciate the break and I'll have lots of time to make up for it in Costa Rica.  Going to focus on getting the house cleaned, the yard mowed and finish packing.  We are leaving at 3:45 am for the airport.  Our friends finally kissed and made up, so everyone who was originally scheduled to go is still going.

Holy crap. Where'd that come from?!?!?!

Pushed hard out there today and even ran a bit. Had a great pacer who let me start slow and built up as we went. The last 1/2 mile was downhill and I told him to go without me. I'd try to keep up, but if I couldn't, don't hold back for me. He finished about a minute ahead of me, but gave me great incentive to keep pushing. Lots of fun out there this morning!

What a great day! Started with a surprisingly good performance at the 5k, then rode over to have lunch with Fred.  He was communications control at the Tour de Cure 30/60/100 bike tour.  He had the motorhome set up at one of the rest stations and it brought back great GOBA memories to see all of the cyclists hanging out on the square.  It was also fun and informative to listen to the communications end of the tour.  They have people stationed at various checkpoints on the course and if someone gets into trouble and needs assistance or a ride, they relay the information to the proper people to get it done.  Planned to ride back with Fred, but since my ride out was uphill and into the wind, I would have felt cheated missing a good opportunity for an easy ride back.

Heading out for my 5K this morning, then I'll come home, grab a quick bike and hop on my bike to ride out to see Fred.  He's doing radio communications for The Tour de Cure bike tour today about 15 miles from here.  I'll hang out with him for the afternoon, then either ride back or hop a ride with him.  Going to be a fun day!

Had a great time on the Safari last night.  Jack Hanna was charming as always, starting to show his age a bit though. Aren't we all!

June 8

Busy day planned!  Costa Rica planning breakfast, lots and lots of errands, then later this afternoon, we're heading over to The Wilds for a Sunset Safari with Jack Hanna.  I ♥ him. :)
