Holy crap. Where'd that come from?!?!?!

Pushed hard out there today and even ran a bit. Had a great pacer who let me start slow and built up as we went. The last 1/2 mile was downhill and I told him to go without me. I'd try to keep up, but if I couldn't, don't hold back for me. He finished about a minute ahead of me, but gave me great incentive to keep pushing. Lots of fun out there this morning!

What a great day! Started with a surprisingly good performance at the 5k, then rode over to have lunch with Fred.  He was communications control at the Tour de Cure 30/60/100 bike tour.  He had the motorhome set up at one of the rest stations and it brought back great GOBA memories to see all of the cyclists hanging out on the square.  It was also fun and informative to listen to the communications end of the tour.  They have people stationed at various checkpoints on the course and if someone gets into trouble and needs assistance or a ride, they relay the information to the proper people to get it done.  Planned to ride back with Fred, but since my ride out was uphill and into the wind, I would have felt cheated missing a good opportunity for an easy ride back.

Heading out for my 5K this morning, then I'll come home, grab a quick bike and hop on my bike to ride out to see Fred.  He's doing radio communications for The Tour de Cure bike tour today about 15 miles from here.  I'll hang out with him for the afternoon, then either ride back or hop a ride with him.  Going to be a fun day!

Had a great time on the Safari last night.  Jack Hanna was charming as always, starting to show his age a bit though. Aren't we all!

Busy day planned!  Costa Rica planning breakfast, lots and lots of errands, then later this afternoon, we're heading over to The Wilds for a Sunset Safari with Jack Hanna.  I ♥ him. :)

Favorite country loop. Good thing I wore short sleeves. It got warm out there. Beautiful morning!

Heading out for a longer loop walking this morning.  It's 51 degrees!  Dragging my feet a little so it can warm up a bit.  We'll try to WILL get the office stuff done today so I can focus on getting the house in order and stuff packed for Costa Rica.  We will be gone most of the day Saturday, so that leaves tomorrow and Sunday to get stuff ready.

Went out with friends last night.  Had waaaay too much beer, (translation, 3. lol!) but lots of fun!  They have a larger motor home and offered to meet up with us on the walk so we could plug our little old motor home into their big fancy one to get power.  We'll stay mostly at campgrounds with electric, but there are a few nights we'll be roughing it on the side of the road or in a small parking area with no electric available.  Our motorhome has the generator in the rear right by the bed, so sleeping having electric is not a simultaneous option.

Wasn't feeling this. Almost stopped early, but decided I felt just as good walking as I would feel doing anything else, so I wandered around town.

Honestly, I've had about enough of this working in the office crap.  Tell me again why I'm not independently wealthy and I have to work? Its seriously cutting into my playing and goofing around time!

I'm doing pretty decent on nutrition these days.  I don't know why getting back into doing some strength training on a regular basis is so difficult for my little pea brain to wrap itself around. I know once I start, I'll be fine.  That first step keep eluding me though.  Lots of excuses.....

Withdrew from the AF Marathon yesterday.  Methinks trying to achieve and maintain a 16 minute mile pace for 26.2 miles isn't in my best interest.  Think its time to focus energy in other areas.  I'm not exactly sure what that will be, but I have a feeling I can come up with some worthy adventures to fill my time!

Cool out there this morning!

Have a breakfast meeting.  More when I return.

One week from today, I leave for Costa Rica!!  I am very excited, but I have so much to do this week.  You know all of those times I said I was going to work in the office?  Well, I didn't and now I have a ton of work to get done before I go. It would also be nice to generate some income to pay for the trip.

Today is our 16th anniversary.  Hard to believe we lived together so long and still genuinely like each other (most the time!

Feet are puffy and sore from weekend walking.  Need to remember to ice bath when I finish walking. I think it helps with some of the inflammation.  I've been stretching a lot and it has nearly eliminated the other issues I was having.  Feet are still my weak link, but they are definitely toughening up.  WAO walking mileage is:
Day 1 - 20
Day 2 - 13.5
Day 3 - 17.5
Day 4 - 15.5
Day 5 - 14.3
Day 6 - 17.7
Day 7 - off
Day 8 - 17.1
Day 9 - 17.2
Day 10 - 14.4
Day 11 - 15.3
Day 12 - 17.5
Day 13 - 16.8
I was originally thinking that I'll do 4-5 increments of 4-5 miles each day, but am now leaning towards getting a longer 6-8 mile start to the day then a couple 4-5 milers so I have more time to rest in the afternoon.

Fixed turkey meatball pitas last night for dinner.  There are leftovers in the fridge and I can't stop thinking about them.  They'll be lucky to last the day in there, even though they're slated for dinner tomorrow night.

Strength training on tap today.  First time in I can't remember how long that I've worked my upper body.  I'm looking forward to it!

Gorgeous morning out there! Everything (almost) about this was good. I felt comfortable and happy the entire distance. It was 60ish degrees when I started with a nice breeze and the scenery was so pretty! The one thing that didn't go so well was testing the radio out for the first time. I had contact once with Fred then lost him and he could not see me on the GPS or talk to me. We'll try again after lunch.

Run #2
  • 2h 11m 19s
  • 6.68 miles
  • 19m 39s /Mi

Same route as this morning and it felt nearly as good! Got a little tired towards the end, but finished strong.

Hard time getting moving this morning.  I had hoped to be out on walk #1 by 6:30, but I slept in and its just after 8 and I'm still not out the door.  Had so much fun doing the route study yesterday that time got away from me and I didn't get my last walk in.  Plan to do 12 today to make up for it.

Thought I was doing really well on nutrition yesterday.  Until late in the day, when I blew it.  Think I was too light on calories early on and that made me want to stuff my face later in the day.   Tomorrow I start strength training again and that normally sends smarter signals to my brain about what to eat.  Read the abs diet Friday, which gave me some great snack ideas.  Don't know about some of their recipes - they tend not to be as clean as I'd like, but still some great ideas and a good concept over all with the power 12 foods that you should eat.

Nuts/Almonds
Beans
Spinach/Green veggies
Oats
Eggs
Turkey/lean meats
LF Dairy
Peanut butter (natural)
Olive oil
Whole grain breads & cereals
Protein Powder
berries

Pretty common sense stuff overall.

Ok, enough procrastinating.  First walk is just under 7 miles.  Be back soon!
