The question is: will this make me faster?

200m warmup 1000m drills 500m - 9:25 100m cooldown Good workout today. I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but these drills are hard. There are 10 drills that I'm doing now, and it's recommended to do 100m of each. I give myself about 30-60 seconds of rest before starting the next drill. I've been fortunate to find time over lunch or after work to get some swim workouts in lately. I hope that continues.

This is about as cold as I can take it with the gear I have. It was 45 degrees in the afternoon with 15 MPH wind. Legs felt good today. It was good to get out and stretch out a bit.

I still have the itch to run, but I'm fighting it. I'll have to go on Sunday for about 3-4 miles just to test the waters. I'm worried that I'm losing my fitness with no running. I also worry that I'll get out of the routine and lose the desire. So I'll definitely have to run this weekend.

I started swimming today planning to do another 1500m workout. After about 500m into it, I was getting bored with just swimming laps again. So I decided to mix it up a little bit. I broke the swim up into 500, 400, 300, 200, and 100m segments. This way I could still cover the same distance, but practice swimming at different paces. Here are the times. 500 - 9:50 (1:58 pace) 400 - 7:40 (1:55) 300 - 5:35 (1:52) 200 - 3:40 (1:50) 100 - 1:40 (1:40) Those are rounded to the nearest 5 seconds. Overall time swimming was 28:25 with about 4+ minutes spent on resting in between reps.

Sunday - November 4

I wonder if I'm taking this "transition time" a little too seriously. I would have loved to ride today as the temperature got up into the 60's for most of the afternoon. But between church, a birthday party for Kaylee's friend, and Anisa not feeling well (daddy duties), there was no time. It's too bad too, because I don't think we're going to see the 60's again for a long time. I can ride comfortably in the 50's with my new gear as long as it isn't as windy as last time. Maybe even down to 45. Anything below that, and I'll want to get some tights, ear covers, and shoe covers, which wouldn't be too expensive. Then we're talking down to 30 or 35 or so. If it gets below freezing, I consider that trainer time!

Saturday - November 3

Another day off. Opportunities to run are plentiful, but I keep telling myself that I need to rest my legs and allow time to recover. The knee is starting to feel a lot better, so that's good. I'm thinking one more week off from running completely, and then I'll try it again. There should be time to go for a ride tomorrow.
