The question is: will this make me faster?

The time includes probably 3 minutes of "stoppage time," to borrow a term from soccer.
It was just a perfect day for a ride - about 70 degrees, light wind, and a well-kept trail. Thanks to Tyler for the ride - it's so much nicer to do a long ride with someone else instead of going alone.
So I went back and checked the last time we rode this trail all the way to the end back in May. Despite being 3 minutes faster (and probably more than that, if you take the stoppage time into account), my average HR was 11 BPM slower than on that day (142 vs. 131). Granted, there was a lot more wind that day, but I think this suggests my fitness has improved since the last time we rode.

5 mile run on another warm and buggy evening. I think I was able to spit all the bugs back out, but I'm not totally sure. It really wasn't that hot (77), but the humidity was 95%. I was completely drenched when I finished.
5 min. warmup, 5 min. cooldown.
