My work computer is still down.  They tried to repair the hard drive, but it didn't work.  :-( 

Gym this morning.  Run and swim planned for today.  1/2 day vacation. 

OK - it has been one of those days.  Computer down = no work.  Cutting up carrots and celery for a salad, and sliced my thumb fairly bad.  Yes, I should have been using a cutting board, but I wasn't.  My own fault.  Thumb had to be wrapped in several bandages and then covered with waterproof dressing.  I finally get to the pool.  Relax for about an hour until youth swim practice is over.  Then, go to change into "swim" suit and realize that I left it at home.  Drive home.  Decide to eat luch and run before going back to pool.  About 2 miles into the run the Garmin battery dies.  It was a hot run - I need to do more of these.  I walked some because I ran too soon after eating lunch and was getting stomach cramps.  3:45PM - called work and computer is still down.  Oh well!  I have a half day vacation planned tomorrow too!!  Guess I'll go back to the pool and get in a short swim.  Didn't happen.  Work called to discuss my computer, and then my sister called.  By that time, I decided to cook, and then eat, supper.  Didn't feel like going back out. Tomorrow will be a better day.

Bad day at work.  My hard drive in my computer died.  All of my files are saved to the server, so I have not lost any data, etc.,   I have about 12 uniques statistics, power caculations, etc. programs on the computer.  All of these will need to be reinstalled.  Of course since these programs are unique to my department, we, and not the hospital IS/IT department, are responsible for them.  I'll taking some vacation time tomorrow and Wednesday.  I'm hoping I'll have my computer back when I'm in the office on Thursday.  It's going to take me at least a week to contact the vendors for new installation for all the programs and have my computer back to operational.  :-(

 Trying some new things with my workout.  Trying plyometrics for strength training.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads!!

Ran 2 loops at Miami Whitewater Park with Tom this morning.  It was already hot and humid.  I warned Tom that yesterday I was feeling bad training and I was only going to run 1 loop if I didn't feel "right."  We took the pace slow and I felt fine.

Today was going to be a 100 mile ride followed by a 3 mile run.  Did not happen!  :-(  The rain storm last night kept me awake, so I was tired.  My legs were tired and heavy.  I had a horrible headache and my heart rate was also too high.  I could not get any speed.  Maybe overtraning????  The storm created a mess on the roads with tree branches and power lines down.  The power at my house was out for a little while.  It was already hot, but windy, when I started the ride.  At mile 17 (Race Ln) a cop car was blocking the road due to down power lines.  It was my brother-in-law.  I stopped and chatted with him for a minute and then changed my route.  I saw more power lines down on California Rd.  Due to the heat and humidilty, I planned to loop back home around mile 50 to refill water and then going to bike to Indiana, College Corner, Oxford, etc. for te last half of the ride.  I was still feeling bad.  I told myself at mile 30 that if I did not feel better by the time I was home, I would stay home.  Feel like a slacker, but I think I needed some rest.  I showered and took a 2 + hour nap.  My headache is gone and I'm feeling better.  Deicded to rest and do some things around the house for the rest of the day.  I'm going to a graduation and award dinner tonight for the surgery residents.

Vacation time from work today!  :-)  Gym first thing this morning, home for a little work, and then play time.  Went to Hueston Woods for my own little solo triathlon.  Guess on the swim distance.  Water still some what chilly, but no wetsuit needed.
