1/2 day vacation. Today is a rather chilly, windy, overcast day. Not July like weather.
I have no speed!! None! I guess it makes sense. Looking at my race times, I do much better at longer distances than shorter distance races. I have endurance, but lack speed. I'm trying to improve this and find some fast twich muscles. Hopefully, the work I'm doing at Adrenaline will help. I also attempted to run fast today. Fellow BTer and football coach, John, invited me to run with the HS football team. John was not at practice today, but I did run with the team. The boys have speed, but not much endurance. The other coach said they ran faster because I was there running with them. I guess they felt they had to beat the middle age woman. :-) We did 15 laps on the track. I was in the middle of the group - not the fastest. Sprint the straight and walk the turns. Great groups of boys, but they sure whine! LOL! I know I don't have the speed, but I could have kept going. I ran a mile on the track before we started and then another 2.25 miles after. Maybe this will help me find some speed. Left leg (sciatic) is still bothering me. I need to keep stretching.
I am a turtle.........
Skipping the swim this evening. It is chilly!
Where is my motivation!?!?!?!
July 1
trainer
chest, tri's, shoulders, stretching
It is already July 1st!!!! Little rain this morning and I had some reading for work, so I biked on the trainer. :-) My leg (sciatic nerve) started bothering me yesterday while running. This time, however, it is on the left side. Crazy. Doing lots of stretching.
Went to Wheelie Fun (bike-tri shop) today. They had several aero helmets to try. I thought I would like the Rudy project since the ears are not covered. It, however, did not fit well. The small/medium was still a little big. I then thought I would want the LG, but I ended up buying, the Giro. This surprised me. It didn't think I would like this one, but it felt the best. Of course I look like a dork, but maybe I'll be a fast dork. Aero helmet purchased! Now to look at renting race wheels. Trying to decide between renting tubular or clincher. Of course, I was checking out the race wheels at the shop. Not ready for that investment yet. I need a new treadmill. :-)

Working a few hours and taking a few hours of vacation today. Legs are heavy from the workout yesterday. I'm even sore in places where I'm usually not sore. Nice! :-)
June 29
In the office at the hospital today. Have an appointment at Adrenaline Sports and Fitness at 2:15. This is a place that helps to increase fitness level and improve athletic performance. I went last Monday for my 1st session and ended up buying a total of 12 sessions. It was fun. Mostly plyometric traning. I am hoping that this traning will help provide me with some speed. I am okay at distances, but horrible at sprints. I want to find my fast twitch muscles (hope I have some)! I also thought this will be something fun, and different, to add to traning. For today's traning, I'll work out at Adrenaline for an hour and then swim.
Didn't make it to the pool. :-( Followed hubby to drop off his Harley at the shop. He needs a new tire and something else. Then, my parents came over this evening. My mom & the family are back from Florida. :-)
Deciding between 2 aero helmets. Rudy Project Syton or the Louis Garneau Superleggera. The Rudy Project does not cover the ears - that may be nice. The LG may be faster & it looks cool. Any suggestions?!?!?

Happy 4th of July!!
Dave needed to ride 100 miles at a slow pace and then run 3 miles today. Perfect! Dave's slow pace is my pace. :-) It is so nice having someone to train with. We left Miami Whitewater Park at 6:00AM. Looped back to the park at mile 52 to refill bottles and then back out again. Thanks to Dave's excellent pacing, we negative split the ride. Pace was easy for Dave, but good for me. Had plenty of hills. Chilly this morning, but then perfect weather. A light rain started to fall as we were about 1 mile into our run. Felt great.
