so....thought id test out the leg tonight...bad idea...test failed. felt terribly tight/sore immediately and i was just not comfortable at all. frustrating. on the good side of things the rest of my body felt very comfortable and the run felt super easy so at least not all my running fitness has disappeared yet.
10!
now i just need some nice weather to train in :)
June 4
good (way-to-early) morning swim! did a little warmup and then 1500 and then some cooldown. i figure now that IMWI is less than 100 days i should get to work!
June 3
windy morning! i thought for sure that i was gonna get rained on today but i somehow lucked out and stayed dry :) the way out was into the wind and i kept at my target kansas hr and then took it easy on the way back with the wind. didnt move my cleats around yet but il do that tonight.
June 2
swam til the pool closed, will do more tomorrow!

im baaaack! felt so good to actually do some exercising again! pulled into howards grove at about 530 after 7 hours in the car and went inside for about 10 minutes, changed the tire on my bike and took off. rode out north in an area ive never ridden in before and it was pretty sweet. nice and hilly and zero traffic = perfect. while i was riding i got to thinking about why my leg is still not feeling any better even though i havent been running for like 2 weeks now and ive narrowed it down to three things that have changed since before my leg started hurting to now.
1)new shoes - switched out my beat to death nike zoom elites for mizuno wave inspires, may have something to do with this new calf pain but i really dont think so. my running volume has not increased at al and yet i somehow now have pain
2)i switched from spd pedals to speedplays with unlimitted float which may have changed the pattern that i pedal in. i looked down today while i was cycling and noticed that i tend to pedal with my heel in and toe out a little so that may be it. i also noticed that the cleats seem to be way towards the front of my shoe and this may cause more stress and stretch across the arch than before??
3)now that its been nice out my cycling volume has increased dramatically. this plus #2 could cause aches and pain.
so after thinking about this ive decided that im gonna try moving the cleats back toward the heel and see if that helps. if not il switch the left one back to spd for awhile and see if that helps. then if im still hurting i may give up and chop that sucker off :)

Day One: swim in lake monona in some crazy rough water! the wind had been whipping around all day at 30+ so the lake was insane and we just got tossed and bounced all over. it really was nothing at all like swimming and more like....well i dont really know what it was like but i think i was vertical/upside down more than i was horizontal haha. it was really tough to get into any sort of rythm or keep good form because every 5 seconds another big wave laid the smackdown on your face lol. oh well, it was a blast and we had a great italian dinner afterwards :) bike course tomorrow!!
IMWI camp starts today :)
leg = not so good...im thinking it might be stress fractured which would be really not so good...
