He's gone 'The Distance'. Now what..?

June 12

Bike
  • 2h 21m
  • 51.12 kms
  • 21.75 KM/hr

MTB. Great break from just riding on the lakefront trail.
Felt good to smell all the bakeries and chocolate factories in the area (and sewer/ other factories as well...).

This city can be likeable on a day like this....

Sport
  • Walking
  • 45m

Park duties and long way home.

The ride/commute went fine, it was great to do some usual lakefront bit going faster and then go through the traffic and very vibrant part of the city along Milwaukee Avenue. I must say - a pretty long way to buy some bread and paper in the morning though...

Milwaukee Avenue.

----------

Internet connection problems today... we have linksys wireless and sometimes the connection is lost for unknown reason. Maybe it's Comcast, who knows. It seems to be working now.

----------

05:47 It stopped raining and the bike is out. Goingto the lake, than South 10kms, turn around, North forabout 20kms, then - turn left to Belmont and ride through the city about 5kms to get some bread (Polish bakery - one of the best in the world...) and finally -  along Milwaukee Ave back home. That's the plan.

June 11

Bike
  • 20m
  • 6.00 kms
  • 18.00 KM/hr

MTB commuting to the pool and back in RAIN.

Swim
  • 48m 38s
  • 2000.00 meters
  • 02m 25s /100 meters

First wanted to do some drills, then just got lazy and simply swam.

This is my world today. No Big Willie's, no nothing, nada.
Very inspirational. Blah and meh.

----------

Off to the Little Gym now.

----------

05:24 Damn the weather forecast!
Got the bike ready for an early ride since they predicted no rain and it's raining as hell now. Forget the bike.

June 10

Run
  • 53m 48s
  • 10.02 kms
  • 05m 22s /KM

I thought I just run at whatever pace feels naturally, without pushing or slowing down and without looking at the clock.

This 53 min surprised me, I thought it would be more like 56...

The legs felt really strong.

Sport #1
  • Soccer
  • 30m

Park duties where I also got to play soccer with some 11yo kids. That actually kicked my butt...

Languages heard today at the park:

1. English
2. Polish
3. Spanish
4. Portugese
5. Greek (that's a new one there!)

----------

The weather forecast didn't mention rain, but it was drizzling and taking the bike didn't feel right.

----------

I don't know what today will bring... but first I must go to the bathroom.

June 9

Bike
  • 20m
  • 6.00 kms
  • 18.00 KM/hr

MTB commuting to the pool and back.

Swim
  • 49m
  • 2000.00 meters
  • 02m 27s /100 meters

Just a morning swim. After 1000m my lower back started complaining, but what can you do, other than swimming on the back, which is OK, but I can't see where I'm going and keep hitting the wall. I prefer backache than headache.

Park duties.

They predicted dryer weather today, but we've had fog all night and and it's still hanging. Riding back from the pool was in slight drizzle.

Park duties, that's all we did today.

Looks like a busy day here, but for all BT purposes it's a rest day.

June 7

Bike
  • 1h 30m
  • 30.00 kms
  • 20.00 KM/hr

Commuting on my 'new' cruiser to the race and back.
This 'cruiser' was my choice of wheels today because of the location (South Side) and I didn't want to leave a good bike there unattended for 2hrs.

So I put this bike together last night from some of the decomposed bikes in the basement. My brother doesn't even know yet...

Run
  • 1h 59m 27s
  • 21.00 kms
  • 05m 41s /KM

Great race, had a good time, everything went as planned, no issues at at all.
And PB!!!
Just as I was hoping to go under 2hrs, it was actually pretty easy (well, 'easy' is probably not a good word for 1/2 mary, but anyway...).

5000+ runners, mosty girls, mostly young ones, mostly in good shape... God it was a good race! They were everywhere, I just didn't seem to see any guys, but maybe that's just me....

I will elaborate on this, and race in general later, right now I need to 'run' to a friend kid's birthday party.

A quick walk to to ur friend's party.

Race
done, now off to a birthday party.

Btw, how do you like my new cruiser (the bike got an award too, for the most uncomfortable bike I have ever ridden...)?
No, it doesn't have a basket in the back, but I'm thinking of putting one in front (and I will put a baguette and a bottle of red wine in it).

June 6

Bike #1
  • 20m
  • 5.00 kms
  • 15.00 KM/hr

Commuting to the lake and back.

Bike #2
  • 2h 00m
  • 51.12 kms
  • 25.56 KM/hr

Perfect weather that couldn't be wasted sitting at home in the morning. Went South first and then North and did the whole trail. On the way back had to battle with thousands of girls with pink ribbons doing the 26mile (yes!) breast cancer walk. It was kind of pointless to do another loop with all that crowd and specially when tomorrow is 1/2 mary race.
