Times like these really have you question your faith.  Yesterday our community lost another strong young Christian man in a terrible accident.  He was a 17 year old senior and he and his friend were both extremly good students, kind hearted sensitive young men.  They were part of the senior to sophmore porgram that allows high school seniors to attend college for both highschool and college credits so upon graduation of highschool they would intern start college as sophmores.  They had a break before class and one of the boys whom I have known for 15 years now (he is raised by his grandparents and they have rented my old home for the past 15 years)  He got a new crossbow and wanted to show his friend his new bow.  He placed a practice arrow in the bow and somehow the quick release either malfunctioned or he accidently released it and the bow penatrated the other boy in the heart.  They acted too quickly and removed the arrow and then called a family member who rushed him to the hosipital and he dies shortly after in surgery.  Please pray for both family and friends involved.

Been trying to deal with another tradgedy today.  It's so hard to grasp why God would want such young men with him instead of here on earth.

Took Tanner to school and met my friend Carolyn at the gym.  She is trying hard to get back into a routine as she gained all her weight back.  She is the one that that lost her 18 year old Grandson right before school was out.  SHe is still grieving and always will but is ready to start living herself again.   I started her out at just a nice easy slow 3.2 mph walk.  She has very short legs so that is still some speed for her.  After about a 10 min warmup I moved her to 3.5mph and had her stay there. I just walked with her at a 4.0mph pace and we stayed on for 1:15 then did some abs.
I bought those detox foot pads for fun this weekend and on Monday nite I put them on and the next morning there wasnt anything there so I reread the directions...I had them on upside down.  So last nite I followed the directions and in the middle of the nite I had a little muscle spasm in my quad?  Hmmm wonder if it was all the polutants exiting my body?  My mind has a hard time believing something can really pull toxins out of your body....my thinking is you have to flush them out with certain liquids and foods, but I thought the commercials were cool with all the junk on the bottom of the pad the next morning. :)  and there was.

I was just looking over to the side of my training log and noticed where I typed in my new training plan for the 60K ultra.  It starts next Monday! WOW...that came fast.  I know I will have to switch some days around due to teaching class and having to come into work so will depend on how much time I have.  Right now Im just teaching MWF and wont start back on T or TH until after the 1st of the year so I can do my longer runs on T and Th mornings cause I wont have to be to work until 11am.  I can run from the time I take Tanner to school 7:30-about 10:15 shower and head to work...sounds like a plan!

Taught class and lifted.  Got on scale and lost 3pounds and I should be happy but I want more!  After my shower I talked to myself as I was drying my hair and reminded myself it wont come off overnight and that was a great week.  It will be off before you know it and you will look back and say...see that wasnt so bad.  The frustrating part is I was 166-168 just 3 weeks before the Ironman and was down to 161 in the summer so I then get down on myself for letting me get carried away with bad eating habits.

dreadmill

Woke up to a nice snow....even was sticking to the patio some and then we headed to pick up Tanner from the Leadership Conference he's been attending and did some shopping.  Tanner desperatly needed a new coat and I couldnt pass up these cute shoes.  ;) It alittle after 7 and we just got home...am gonna see if my mind can hold out on the dreadmill for atleast 30 minutes.

Went ahead and got on the dreadmill and got off right at 30 min!  My legs actually felt tired today.  I picked up the pace from 1.5 to 2.0 and stayed at 7.2mph then walked it off a few then went on an incline for a few and just played around.  Glad I didnt talk myself out of it. Thing Im gonna miss about having to do some training on the dreadmill is I wont be able to use my garmin and upload my splits.  I kinda like taking a peak at each mile to see if I stay steady and which days I am faster in the beginning of my run or faster at the ends of my run.

5pm
Got home from work and decided to get on the dreadmill and it actually felt really good.  I started out at just a 5.5 min mile pace cause usually the dreadmill gets me down and I go slower but after about a half mile my feet was hitting the front of it so I jumped up to 6.0 thinking ok that is 10min miles....so I stayed there for a few still felt good and thought...last two times outside I have gotten a 9.2 min mile pace for a mile so lets pick it up and atleast average this run out to be a 10 min miles....so i kept picking it up and up and up and got to where i was at a 8:20 pace but didnt hold it long because of my breathing and decided to stop at 3.5 miles.  So it averaged just about 10 min pace. I then came upstairs and was emailing Tammy and as I was typing I told her about getting up to a 8:20 and said I have a new goal and it is to run a mile non stop at a 8:20 pace...then I said maybe less....then my OCD kicked in and I put my shoes back on and went at it since I was already warmed up!  I pulled off a mile in 8:09.  So now I know what I am capable of I need to do this each run workout.  I would think in time then my lungs would be able to handle it cause that was all that was bothering me.

1:30pm
And since Im in such a terrific mood I must add that I think Some people are so full of shit it is ridiculous....get real

11:00am

...feeling sorry for myself yesterday and today.  I have decided the fastest way to lost weight is to not even eat.  I have been really good this week and on Weds the scales showed I was down 2 pounds now yesterday it was only 1.  So what gives...when does your body decide to lose...what the heck do you have to eat or not eat.  How much more do you have to exercise.  People talk about your body going into starvation mode and how it then holds onto fat and such....I start to think about that and think to shows like survivor and these little itty bitty things are into starvation mode and their bodies just get thinner and thinner same with the heavier people.....so I really dont believe in a starvation mode...it is just another excuse as to why the weight doesnt come off.  Just like people use to say...well you have big bones...bull shit....My wrist and ankles are tiny!  I know I dont eat the right things all the time....I will do good for awhile then when I blow it I blow it good.  SO when I get back on track and dont lose what I think I should be losing I get down on myself.  Cause how can you eat like a freakin pig with all the junk and not really gain much but when you really tighten the rope you stay the same?  I know it just takes time and it eventually will fall off but I want it off now.

Taught 20/20/20 to a FULL class! Yeah all the bikes were taken.  I didnt split eveyone up into groups for the bootcamp we did it all together and that let me participate alittle as well......they kept telling me I needed to do it also but like I said this is YOUR workout and I need to keep you moving fast!  I did some weights after class and then got my little critter carrier to start making my house of pain box.  I have it decorated on the outside now to put all the torture cards on the inside. :)  I really wanted to run today but didnt have the time this morning, if I dont go out to dinner with Kevin then I may jump on the dreadmill.  When I left the gym it was 60 degrees and the sun was out...it is still warm but not sunny right now and tomorrow they are saying low 33 and high 46 so its gonna get cold for a couple days again. This warm and cold just teases you...not fair!
Its free popcorn friday at the toystore today.......wonder how much popcorn I will eat ;)

Subbed for the bright and early spin and then ab class....when I finished teaching and I got out of the group fitness room I was like dang...its still freakin dark outside!  This is nuts.  So I went home, took a shower, dried my hair and was back in bed by 7:30 and laid till 10am! Yeah.... Now Im on my way to work and hope we are busy today.  It is very gloomy outside but like 50 degrees so not supper cold.  I had planned on running today but with subbing the class that is all I am going to do.  I am going to a church function tonite so wont be home till after 9 and then wont want to run outside or get on the dreadmill.  Tomorrow is the new class and then weight training so I will run on Saturday and Sunday.  i think I can go alittle farther then the 3 miles in the Newtons....although I have only ran in them twice this time I dont have any calf problems at all so I think I will try for 5 or 6 miles.
