March 28

Today was one of those "life gets in the way" rest days. I don't really consider it very restful when I get up early for church and then afterwards go sit in a very crowded gym on steel bleachers packed like sardines for 7 hours, but there was no workout today. My daughter's volleyball team just can't seem to get it together. The players are never all "on" at the same time. And it's like they don't know how to open their mouth to talk on the court. Maybe if they could figure out a way to text on the court they'd do better. HA! They did end up 4th, but have beaten the 3rd place team before, so that was frustrating. They have one last tournament in two weeks. Hopefully they will have a better showing there, but it's a huge tournament. We'll see.

Did the Rosedale Ride and then at the end cut the course to go to my son's soccer game. Time, heart rate, etc. is on the garmin at home, but for some reason, the distance on the computer stuck in my mind. Will update the rest later.

Actually had the opportunity to get VO2 tested for a really good deal. I know some people don't think VO2 tests are all that accurate, but for the price I was willing to do it. Especially since I had no idea what my heart rate zones were before. I figured even if it's not totally accurate, it's better than not knowing anything at all. Since I was tested, I have no idea how far I actually went in those times. The cycle time includes the warm up before the actual test. Each test was 10 minutes long with a 2 minute recovery. So now I have some base information to go off of. I'm going to look back at my longs to see how the new information relates to the average heart rates I have in my logs and go from there.

Treadmill run after getting home from a track meet and volleyball practice. It was tough to get on since it was so late, but once I was on it wasn't so bad. Especially with the NCAA basketball games going on.

I got a new trainer wheel today. One that is just for the trainer so I don't have to worry about changing a tire every time I move the bike from the trainer to the outside or worry about the tire wearing out.

I was very happy with my 100 times. My rest between each was about 20-30 seconds. I know I can't hold that speed for 2.4 miles, but I'm improving and I'm getting excited to see what I could do in a sprint. I'm also interested to see what my time is at Lonestar next month.

After having issues in my left foot and hip last week I scheduled a deep tissue massage for today. I did it online and somehow there was a mix up and a double booking, but the other guy was happy to wait and let me go first. Thank goodness for nice people in this world.

She was really able to loosen the stuff in my foot. I have never had plantar facitis (I know it's spelled wrong), but I was starting to think that's where I was headed. She was able to work out the tightness and release the muscles. She also worked on the hip and then hit a muscle in the thigh area that she said released and allowed my knee to reallign. Um, didn't know it wasn't alligned. Yeah, I'm a mess even though it doesn't bother my day to day training. While I was there I scheduled another one hour for the beginning of April and then another one hour for 4 days before Lonestar. Need to budget massages for once a month during IM training for sure.
