Despite 60 degree temps, overcast skies with heavy mist falling, and high humidity, I set a new PR today! Thought the humidity was going to get me, but kept it as constant as I could. You can tell by the splits where the hills were. :)

Mile 1: 8:51
Mile 2: 8:35
Mile 3: 9:19
Mile 4: 8:36
Mile 5: 8:49
Mile 6: 8:45
last .2: 1:43

Will do a short race report later.

Slow run on the treadmill to loosen the legs for tomorrow's 10k.

Up early to get Dalton to a meeting for his big trip this summer. Then off to his soccer game. He scored a beautiful goal! Then to eat lunch, shop for a birthday gift for a party tomorrow, and home. It was nice outside so I worked in the yard for a little bit pulling weeds. Went inside for a short run on the treadmill to loosen the legs for tomorrow's 10K. I am not expecting great things at the race. It doesn't start until 8:30. Expected temps in the 60s with 85% humidity. My exercise induced asthma is worse when it's really humid. We'll see. It may end up a training run for me.

Run #1
  • 1h 00m
  • 6.10 miles
  • 09m 50s /Mi

Outside run while my son was at soccer practice. Forgot my fuel belt, so I had to carry my gatorade and my phone in my hands. That was a little weird. And I'm still not use to the heat. It was only low 70s and I was HOT.

Run #2
  • 1h 00m
  • 4.00 miles
  • 15m /Mi

My schedule had a 2 hour run on it for today. Could only get in the hour while Dalton was at soccer. After we got home and did what had to be done, I got on the treadmill. Was in no mood to run, so I just walked for an hour.

I would have prefered to be outside, but when I'm short on time I hit the treadmill so that I can stop when I need to and know that I am home.

Sport #1

Sport #2
  • Yoga
  • 1h 00m
What a day. I had a massage scheduled for today because I have been tight lately and I just wanted to treat myself. I usually do yoga on Tuesday nights, but thought I was going to miss it tonight due to overlapping of son's soccer practice and daughter's volleyball practice. So, I get home from the massage and decide to get my 30min bike/30 min run workout in before taking Madison to volleyball. As soon as I get off the treadmill and go downstairs, my son is home. Soccer practice got cut short, so I CAN go to yoga - if I hurry. Hopped in the shower to rinse off, put on my yoga clothes and left the house. After yoga, went to volleyball to pick Madison up. Got home at 9:30. Still hadn't eaten and not a lot of choices as what I was planning on eating was rotten. Not good. Thoughts: *With the weather warming up, I need to pay more attention to how much I have been drinking. I have noticed that I grab the gatorade more even for short workouts. Need to stay properly hydrated. *I don't care how late it is when I get home, I need to make myself eat something DECENT for dinner. Again, whether dinner is at 4:30 or 9:30, I need to eat. Snacking just doesn't cut it. *I have a century ride in less than 2 weeks. I have missed a couple of big training rides due to weather, so I'm not where I was hoping to be at this point. I need to remember to not go out too fast and to shift position during the ride so I don't get too tight and stiff. I also need to practice my bike nutrition and remind myself to drink often. *I have a HIM in less than 3 weeks. I know I can finish the race. I need to not worry about time. I need to practice my nutrition that I plan on using for Florida and I need to pace myself on the bike so that I can run all (or at least the majority) of the run. The 2 HIMs I have done before, I have walked a lot on the "run" portion. Part of that is probably due to lack of proper pacing and hydration, but part of that has also been due to heat. I don't "race" well when it's overly hot. *I still have a lot of time before IMFL. :)

Ended up being a trainer ride despite the nice weather thanks to car trouble. I needed to be available quickly if the place called and said my car was ready.

Swim
  • 54m 19s
  • 2500.00 yards
  • 02m 10s /100 yards

Shorter swim than normal, but I was tired.

500 warm up in 10:35
200 pull buoy
300 drills
5 x 200
500 pull buoy

My car is 8 years old and has almost 160,000 miles on it. But I like it and don't want a new one (really don't want car payments). So far this year, though, it's been in the shop twice and has had a lot done. Was going to take it in today for an oil change and inspection. On the way home at a stop light, the "check gauges" light came on and the needle for the oil level was bouncing up and down. They couldn't figure out why it did that, but it is inspected now with fresh oil. We are getting to the point where we will have to decide if it's worth it to keep spending money on it or if it's time for a new vehicle. We were hoping this one would last until my daughter turns 16 in a year and a half.
