Just a short, but brisk run. I'm pretty much feeling ready for this weekend, although I keep thinking that I haven't done enough hill training. I'm getting excited and nervous.
I think I'm a little more worked up than normal for a couple of reasons.
1. I'm training to reach a very specific time goal
2. Despite not being a significant as an IM, the marathon still holds a special spot in my heart. It was my first experience with a multiple hour endurance event. I picked up a beginner's marathon book one day, and started following it and 4 months later, I ran my first marathon. It started my love for self-coaching and researching training techniques.
I also remember when I weighed in at 252 for the 2001 Austin Marathon and finished in 5:51, and it's pretty neat to think how far I've come since then.
Anyway, I'm hoping to do something special at this race. Deep down, and in ways I don't often realize, I love the marathon!

Wow, what a gorgeous day. I slept in too long to make the 9am start of the Trinity Trail group, but at least I didn't have to deal with the colder morning weather.
1st hour was right at 20 miles. Wasn't really planning on going that fast, but I just went with it. 2nd hr I averaged 19, and then I really pushed it the last hour to see if I could keep my average up and I did!
This was one of my best rides in a long time, and hopefully it'll care me over for a while, b/c I won't be biking next weekend due to Austin, and I probably won't even bike the following weekend so I can recover fully.

Fairly brisk run with 3 x 5 mins at about 7:15 pace with a long 5 minute rest between.
Felt good.
